Description

Matsui Yama Base — Mix Your Own High-Stretch Silicone

When you want total control over color, you start with a base. The Matsui Yama Base is a high-stretch, clear silicone mixing base designed to carry pigment beautifully: add 3–10% Yama pigments for the exact shade — brand match, Pantone target or custom blend — then catalyze at 10% and print. It cures to a soft, smooth, low-profile film with the extreme elongation and rebound that make silicone the go-to for activewear, leggings, compression wear and swimwear. One base plus a set of concentrates replaces a shelf full of pre-mixed buckets, so you can mix exactly what a job needs, when it needs it.

Why Start With a Mixing Base

Total color control

Blend any custom color from Yama pigments instead of settling for the closest ready-mix.

High stretch & rebound

Cures to an elastic film that flexes and snaps back with the garment — no cracking on high-stretch fabric.

Soft, smooth hand

A low-profile, soft-touch finish that feels good on performance and fashion apparel.

Lean inventory

One base plus concentrates covers your whole palette — less money tied up in pre-mixed colors.

How to Mix & Print

1 · Catalyze the base

Stir the base, add 10% silicone catalyst and mix uniform. Then add 3–10% pigment for color. Rest 5–10 min.

2 · Print

80–160 mesh (31–63T), 70–80 durometer or triple-duro, smooth strokes. Use a solvent-resistant, silicone-compatible emulsion.

3 · Cure

Flash ~220°F for 5–8 sec if needed; final cure 300–320°F for 1–2 min (ink film above 250°F internal).

Mix by weight. Weigh your pigment and catalyst so you can reproduce a custom color exactly next time. Need help hitting a brand or Pantone target? Call (512) 454-0505.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Matsui Yama Base (SI0301) — Frequently Asked Questions

What is the Yama Base used for?
It’s a high-stretch silicone mixing base. Add 3–10% Yama pigments and 10% catalyst to mix any custom color — brand matches, Pantone targets or custom blends — with full silicone stretch and wash durability.
Can I print the base on its own?
It’s designed to be pigmented. On its own it prints clear/translucent; add pigment for color. It always needs catalyst to cure.
How much pigment and catalyst do I add?
3–10% pigment by weight (more for saturated colors) and 10% catalyst. Catalyze first, then add pigment, mix uniform and rest 5–10 minutes.
What’s the difference between this and the Mat Base?
Both are high-stretch mixing bases; this one has a smooth standard finish, while the Mat Base cures to a flat, matte, soft-touch look.
What fabrics and cure does it use?
Polyester, spandex, nylon and blends. Print 80–160 mesh, flash ~220°F, cure 300–320°F for 1–2 minutes (film above 250°F).
What sizes are available?
Quart, gallon and 5-gallon. A little pigment colors a lot of base, so a base-plus-concentrates system stretches a long way.
