Matsui Acrylicon Clear | Matte Zero-Tack Water-Based Clear Mixing Base for Premium Custom Colors on Performance & Stretch Fabric Screen Printing

Mastui

Matsui Acrylicon Clear is a premium acrylic clear mixing base for performance fabrics, distinguished by its zero-tack, matte finish — the choice when ink tack is a production problem. Where Soft Stretch Clear optimizes for how a print FEELS (softest possible hand), Acrylicon Clear optimizes for how a print BEHAVES (zero tack, clean matte appearance). Mix with Neo Pigments up to 15% for custom colors. Excellent elasticity. Zero viscosity modifications. Cures at 320F. PVC-free, OEKO-TEX compliant.

Description

Zero Tack. Matte Finish. The Anti-Tack Performance Base.

Matsui Acrylicon Clear solves a specific, common problem: ink tack on performance fabrics. Tack causes garments to feel slightly sticky or grabby in the print area — a quality issue that premium activewear brands will reject. Acrylicon Clear’s formulation eliminates this, delivering a clean, flat, zero-tack matte finish.

Zero Tack

Acrylicon Clear is specifically formulated to eliminate ink tack on the printed surface — the characteristic stickiness or grab that some WB inks produce on synthetic fabrics. For premium activewear where tack-free hand feel is a specification, Acrylicon Clear is the solution.

Matte Finish

The matte finish complements the zero-tack characteristic — a flat, clean, non-reflective surface that integrates naturally into the performance fabric aesthetic.

Premium Performance Base

Acrylicon Clear occupies a premium position in the Matsui stretch lineup alongside Soft Stretch Clear. Both are premium specialty bases — one for maximum softness, one for zero-tack behavior.

Neo Pigment Color Mixing

Mix with Neo Pigments at up to 15% by weight for custom colors. Same color matching system as all other Matsui stretch bases.

Excellent Elasticity

Formulated for stretch and performance fabrics. The print moves with the garment without cracking on Dri-Fit, Lycra, and stretch synthetics.

Full Additive Compatibility

Compatible with the full Matsui additive lineup: Retarder MG, Fixer WF-N, Softener MG, Quick Additive.

Acrylicon Clear vs Soft Stretch Clear — Two Premium Paths

Soft Stretch Clear — Premium Softness

Soft Stretch Clear is the premium upgrade for hand feel — the silicone-like, barely-there finish that clients feel immediately. Choose when the specification is “softest possible hand feel.”

Acrylicon Clear — Premium Behavior

Acrylicon Clear is the premium upgrade for print behavior — zero tack, clean matte, zero-grab surface. Choose when the specification is “no tack” or when tack is causing quality rejection from premium activewear clients.

The Decision

Which does the client prioritize — how the print feels (softness = Soft Stretch Clear) or how the print behaves (zero tack/matte = Acrylicon Clear)? Both are premium performance bases. The choice depends entirely on which specification matters most.

Best Use Cases

Tack-Sensitive Premium Activewear

When a premium client is rejecting prints due to ink tack or stickiness in the print area, Acrylicon Clear is the solution. Zero tack is the specification.

Premium Matte Performance Prints

For premium activewear brands that specify a matte, non-reflective print finish with no surface grab.

Technical Athletic Wear

For high-performance technical athletic garments where any surface texture or tack would interfere with the garment’s technical performance.

Compatible Matsui Additives

All additives below are compatible. Do not exceed 15% total additives by weight. PVC-free, OEKO-TEX Standard 100 certified.

Quick Additive6-9%All-in-one: open time + hand feel + wash fastness + dot retention
Retarder MG1-5%Extends screen open time — prevents ink drying in mesh
Fixer WF-N1-5%Wash & crock fastness crosslinker — no pot life — meets all RSLs
Softener MG1-4%Soft hand feel — improved fabric penetration and elasticity
Thickener B0.25-1%Raises viscosity — halftone dot retention
RV Additive1-3%Reduces viscosity — better than water for thinning

Pro Tips & Critical Notes

Tack vs Softness Decision

If the client complains about stickiness or grab: Acrylicon Clear. If the client asks for softer hand feel: Soft Stretch Clear. Both are premium bases — the specification drives the choice.

Blocker for Dark Polyester

Print Blocker Gray or Blocker Black LG first for dark polyester, flash, then print Acrylicon Clear colors.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What additives should I use with Acrylicon Clear?

For most jobs, use Quick Additive at 6-9%. For individual control, use Retarder MG (1-5%), Fixer WF-N (1-5% — recommended for athletic garments), and Softener MG (1-4%). Browse all Matsui additives here.

Can I use Acrylicon Clear on dark polyester?

Yes, but print an Under Base Blocker first, flash, then apply your Acrylicon Clear + Neo Pigment color on top. Acrylicon Clear has no bleed resistance — the blocker is essential on dye-sublimation substrates. Always test before production.

What mesh count should I use with Acrylicon Clear?

The recommended range is 86-160/inch (34-63/cm). For standard color work, use 110-160 mesh. For heavier deposit and more pronounced matte effect, use 86-110 mesh.

Do all Matsui bases work with Neo Pigments?

Yes — every acrylic Matsui base is designed to mix with Matsui Neo Pigments and Glow Pigments. The base determines substrate, mesh range, and finish. The pigments determine the color. The additives optimize the process.

Which Matsui bases require a blocker on polyester?

All of them. Every Matsui clear and mixing base requires a blocker on polyester to prevent dye sublimation migration. The acrylic bases use Under Base Blocker or Kombat Blocker. The polyurethane 350 Series uses Under Base Blocker 350. Always test before production.

Is Acrylicon Clear safe for children’s clothing?

Yes. Acrylicon Clear is OEKO-TEX® Standard 100 certified, suitable for baby products, CPSIA compliant, and HR4040 compliant. It is also PVC-free, phthalate-free, and contains no co-solvents.

How does Acrylicon Clear relate to 301M Matte on cotton?

Both deliver a matte finish, but on different substrates. Acrylicon Clear is for performance and stretch fabrics at 86-160 mesh — matte + zero tack + silicone-like hand + elasticity. 301M Matte is for cotton at 305 mesh — matte + semi-opaque coverage on colored garments. Acrylicon Clear is transparent, while 301M Matte is semi-opaque.
