Matsui DS Hybrid Pre-Digital White Ink | Standalone Water-Based White Underbase for Digital Hybrid Screen Printing — No Clear Layer Required — Direct White Underbase for M&R Digital Squeegee and ROQ Hybrid Presses

Matsui

Matsui DS Hybrid Pre-Digital White is a high-performance water-based white underbase ink designed for digital hybrid screen printing systems that simplifies your workflow. Unlike DS Hybrid UB White which requires Digiace Clear printed over it, Pre-Digital White can be used ON ITS OWN — no clear bonding layer needed. One screen-printed white pass, then straight to digital inkjet. Fewer screens, fewer print heads, faster production. Optimized for M&R Digital Squeegee and ROQ Hybrid / ROQ Now systems. Prints through mesh up to 160. Cure at 320°F (160°C) for 2-3 minutes. PVC-free. Exceptionally soft hand feel. Low tack. Ready for use — no viscosity modifications needed.

Description

DS Hybrid Pre-Digital White — The Standalone White for Simplified Digital Hybrid

Most digital hybrid workflows require a two-step screen printing process before the digital print head fires: first a white underbase, then a clear bonding layer over it. That means two screens, two print stations, two registration points — just for the foundation.

DS Hybrid Pre-Digital White collapses those two steps into one.

This white underbase is engineered with built-in surface properties that allow digital inks to bond directly to it — no Digiace Clear layer required. Print one screen of Pre-Digital White, move straight to the digital print head, and finish with an optional DS Hybrid Top Coat. Fewer steps. Fewer variables. Faster throughput.

Simplified Workflow vs. Full Workflow

Pre-Digital White simplified workflow:

  1. DS Hybrid Pre-Digital White → screen printed (THIS PRODUCT — standalone white underbase)
  2. Digital inkjet CMYK → printed by M&R Digital Squeegee or ROQ Hybrid
  3. DS Hybrid Top Coat → screen printed sealer (optional)

Standard full workflow (for comparison):

  1. DS Hybrid UB White → screen printed underbase
  2. Digiace Digital Screen Clear → screen printed primer
  3. Digital inkjet CMYK
  4. DS Hybrid Top Coat → screen printed sealer

The tradeoff: the full workflow with UB White + Clear produces the maximum color vibrancy and bonding performance. Pre-Digital White simplifies the process while still delivering excellent digital ink adhesion and soft hand feel. Choose based on your production priorities — maximum quality vs. maximum speed.

Matsui Digital Hybrid Product System — 5-Product Master Comparison

Product Type Position in Workflow Function Max Mesh Used With Substrates Activator?
DS Hybrid UB White White underbase FIRST — screen printed Opacity + dye block on dark garments. Standard white underbase for digital hybrid. 160 Needs Digiace Clear or Pre-Digital Clear over it Cotton, blends, performance No
Digiace Discharge White Discharge white underbase FIRST — screen printed Removes garment dye + replaces with white. Ultra-soft hand. SOFTEST underbase option. 230 Needs Digiace Clear over it ⚠️ 100% cotton only YES — Discharge Activator required
DS Hybrid Pre-Digital White (THIS PRODUCT) Standalone white underbase FIRST — screen printed White underbase that works ON ITS OWN — does NOT require Clear layer over it. Simplified workflow. 160 Can be used alone — no Clear needed Cotton, blends, performance No
Digiace Digital Screen Clear Clear primer/bonding layer SECOND — screen printed AFTER white underbase, BEFORE digital print Creates smooth bonding surface for digital inks. Improves color vibrancy, adhesion, and definition. 230 Printed over UB White or Discharge White Cotton, blends, performance No
DS Hybrid Top Coat Clear overprint sealer LAST — screen printed AFTER digital print Encapsulates and protects the digital print. Locks in color, adds abrasion/UV/wash resistance. 230 Recommended with low-resin digital inks Cotton, blends, performance No

⚠️ Critical Contamination Warning

DS Hybrid Pre-Digital White MUST be mixed in clean vessels using clean mixing blades and utensils. Any contamination from other ink sources or non-approved additives could cause Pre-Digital White to test positive for restricted PVCs.

Why Screen Printers Choose DS Hybrid Pre-Digital White

“I want to reduce the number of screen stations in my digital hybrid workflow.”
Pre-Digital White eliminates the separate Clear layer. One screen of white, straight to digital. Fewer print stations, faster production.

“I am getting started with digital hybrid and want the simplest possible setup.”
Pre-Digital White is the easiest entry point. Print white → digital → optional top coat. Three steps instead of four.

“Can I still use a Top Coat over it?”
Yes — DS Hybrid Top Coat can be printed as the final layer for maximum durability and protection. Optional but recommended for production garments.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Do I need Digiace Clear over Pre-Digital White?

No — that is the key advantage. Pre-Digital White is engineered to work on its own without a separate Clear layer. Digital inks can print directly onto it.

What is the difference between Pre-Digital White and UB White?

UB White requires Digiace Clear printed over it for best results. Pre-Digital White does not — it is a standalone solution. UB White + Clear gives maximum digital ink performance; Pre-Digital White gives simplified workflow.

What equipment is it designed for?

M&R Digital Squeegee, ROQ Hybrid, and ROQ Now digital screen printing systems.

Should I use a Top Coat after the digital print?

DS Hybrid Top Coat is optional but recommended. It seals and protects the digital print for improved wash durability and abrasion resistance.

What mesh should I use?

Up to 160 mesh. Lower than Digiace Clear (230) because Pre-Digital White deposits more ink for opacity.

Can I use it on polyester or blends?

Yes — Pre-Digital White works on cotton, blends, and performance fabrics. For 100% cotton with the softest possible hand, consider Digiace Discharge White instead.
