Description

Maximum Visibility. Zero Compromise.

The human eye is most sensitive to yellow-green light — which is exactly the range LBX 98888 Fluorescent Yellow occupies. It’s the color of safety vests, emergency equipment, hi-vis work gear, and neon athletic apparel for a reason: nothing is more visible. Part of the 15-color LBX Pantone Mixing System, LBX Flo Yellow delivers maximum fluorescent hi-vis intensity straight from the container and mixes with other LBX fluorescent bases to hit specific neon Pantone targets. Fully cures at 280°F. Use the free formulator at formulator.screenprintsupplies.com for exact ratios.

Why LBX 98888 Fluorescent Yellow?

The Most Visible Color in the Spectrum

Yellow-green is the peak sensitivity wavelength of the human eye — the color we see most easily in both bright and low-light conditions. LBX Flo Yellow occupies this exact range, making it the most visible color in screen printing. Safety apparel, hi-vis gear, and maximum-impact athletic wear all start here.

Hi-Vis Safety & Neon in One Base

LBX Flo Yellow covers both ends of its market: ANSI-adjacent safety yellow for hi-vis workwear and construction apparel, and neon lime-green for athletic, festival, and event apparel. Straight from the container it delivers in both directions.

Low Cure for Performance Fabrics

Full cure at 280°F means safe use on polyester and performance fabrics — the substrates most commonly used for hi-vis safety garments, athletic wear, and the event apparel where fluorescent yellow is most in demand.

Fluorescent Mixing Base

Mix with LBX Flo Green (LBX Green + Flo Yellow) for neon lime. Mix with LBX Flo Orange approach (Flo Yellow + Flo Red) for neon yellow-orange. The free formulator handles exact ratios for any fluorescent Pantone target.

Available Sizes

  • QQuart (32 oz) — Good for testing fluorescent yellow or running smaller hi-vis and neon accent jobs
  • GGallon (128 oz) — Standard production size for regular hi-vis, athletic, and fluorescent Pantone mixing work
  • 55-Gallon Pail — High-volume shops running hi-vis safety programs, event apparel, or large neon athletic runs

See It in Action

Where Fluorescent Yellow Wins

Hi-Vis Safety Apparel

Construction crews, road workers, safety vests, and workwear where ANSI-adjacent fluorescent yellow is the standard. The most visibility-critical color in safety apparel.

Athletic & Run Apparel

5Ks, charity runs, cycling clubs, and athletic programs where neon yellow-green is the go-to high-visibility color for safety and visibility on the road or trail.

Festival & Neon Merch

Festival, concert, and rave apparel where neon lime-green and fluorescent yellow are design staples. Glows intensely under blacklight.

Fluorescent Lime Mixing

Mix with LBX Green for neon lime-green targets. The formulator gives exact ratios for any specific neon yellow-green Pantone target.

⚠ Don’t Overcure Fluorescents

Exceeding 280°F degrades fluorescent pigments and dulls the color. Use a donut probe to verify internal ink temp. Dial in belt speed carefully — overcured fluorescent yellow loses its neon intensity and becomes a flat standard yellow.

⚠ Underbase Required on Dark Garments

Fluorescent inks are semi-transparent. On dark garments, always print a white underbase first, flash, then print the fluorescent yellow on top. Without an underbase the substrate mutes the fluorescent effect entirely.

LBX 98888 Fluorescent Yellow Is a Pantone Mixing Ink — Not Just a Color

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Why is fluorescent yellow the most visible color in screen printing?

The human eye is most sensitive to yellow-green light at around 555nm wavelength — the peak of photopic vision. Fluorescent yellow occupies this exact range and uses fluorescent pigments that re-emit absorbed UV light as visible yellow-green, pushing the perceived brightness beyond what standard pigments can achieve. That’s why it’s the standard color for safety vests, emergency equipment, and maximum-visibility apparel.

Can I use LBX Flo Yellow on hi-vis safety vests and polyester workwear?

Yes — full cure at 280°F is safe on polyester and performance fabrics, including the moisture-wicking materials common in hi-vis safety garments. The lower cure temp reduces dye migration risk on poly compared to standard-cure inks at 320°F.

Do I need an underbase on dark garments?

Yes — fluorescent inks are semi-transparent and cannot block a dark substrate on their own. Print a white underbase first, flash it fully, then print the fluorescent yellow on top. Without an underbase on dark shirts, the substrate mutes the fluorescent effect entirely.

Why did my fluorescent yellow look dull after curing?

Overcuring is the most common cause. If internal ink temp exceeds 280°F, the fluorescent pigments degrade and the ink loses its neon intensity — reading as a flat standard yellow. Verify with a donut probe, not a surface gun. Also confirm you printed on white or a white underbase.
