Large-Particle Maximum Sparkle
Coarse Flake uses significantly larger metallic flake particles than Fine Flake — each individual particle is visible to the naked eye, creating a bold, dramatic glitter effect with high reflectivity and strong visual impact from a distance.
86–110 Mesh Required
The large particle size requires coarser mesh counts for the particles to pass through the screen without being blocked. 86–110 mesh is the working range. Attempting to print through fine mesh will block the screen and produce inconsistent results.
Statement-Level Sparkle
Unlike the subtle sophistication of Fine Flake, Coarse Flake makes a bold visual statement. It catches and throws light aggressively, producing prints that glitter visibly under any lighting condition.
Use Solo or Tint with Color
Use straight from the container for clear silver glitter, or add 20–35% Inktek LB color to create custom colored glitter: gold glitter (add LB Gold/Yellow), colored sparkle for holiday designs, school color glitter for spirit wear.
Stir Before Every Print
Large particles settle very quickly — much faster than fine flake. Stir from the bottom of the container at the start of every print run and after any pause of more than 5–10 minutes.
Light Garments or Over Underbase
The transparent base will not cover dark garments. Print over a white or light underbase on dark fabrics, or use on white and light-colored garments for direct printing.

How to Wash Test Plastisol Prints
Whenever you change ink, mesh count, dryer settings, or substrate — run a wash test before releasing production. This is the only definitive check for cure and wash durability.
Step 1 — Cure a Test Print
Print and cure a test garment at your production dryer settings. Let cool completely before washing.
Step 2 — Wash Hot
Machine wash on the hottest setting with standard detergent. Hot water is the stress test — if it holds here, it holds everywhere.
Step 3 — Repeat 3–5 Cycles
Run 3–5 full wash/dry cycles. Under-cured prints fail in the first 1–3 washes. Properly cured prints show no change.
Step 4 — Inspect
Look for cracking, peeling, delamination, or color change. A properly cured metallic print retains its shine and adhesion. Do a stretch test — pull the print firmly and check for cracking.
If metallic prints dull or lose sheen after washing: This is almost always under-cure. Check actual garment surface temperature with a donut probe or temp tape — not dryer air temp. Increase dwell time before re-testing.
86–110 Mesh Only — No Finer
Attempting to print Coarse Flake through 160+ mesh will block screens and produce inconsistent, particle-starved prints. Always use 86–110 mesh for predictable results.
Stir Before Every Print Run
Large metallic particles settle within minutes of sitting on the press. Stir from the bottom of the ink container at the start of every run and after any pause. Do not rely on squeegee action to redistribute settled particles.
Transparent Base — Use Underbase on Dark Garments
Coarse Flake will not cover dark garments. Print over a white or light underbase on any dark fabric.

What is the difference between Crystalina Coarse Flake and Crystalina Fine Flake?
The particle size. Fine Flake uses ultra-small metallic particles that create a subtle, multi-directional shimmer — elegant and refined from a distance. Coarse Flake uses large, individual glitter particles that are visible to the naked eye and create a bold, dramatic sparkle — exciting and attention-getting. Fine Flake for fashion and boutique apparel; Coarse Flake for festive, children’s, and statement printing.
Why is mesh count so important for Coarse Flake?
The large metallic particles in Coarse Flake will not pass through fine mesh screens — the openings are too small. Using 160+ mesh will result in the particles blocking the mesh, producing an uneven print with few particles making it through. Always use 86–110 mesh for Coarse Flake. The coarser mesh also deposits more ink, which is beneficial for maximum glitter density.
How often do I need to stir during a print run?
Stir thoroughly before starting and check every 10–15 minutes during the run. Large glitter particles settle much faster than fine flake or standard plastisol pigment. On longer runs, you may need to stir every 10 minutes. An unmixed container produces prints where early squeegee strokes deposit many particles and later strokes deposit almost none.
Can I mix Coarse Flake with color inks for custom glitter colors?
Yes — add 20–35% Inktek LB color by weight to create custom colored glitter. For gold glitter, add LB Yellow or Gold. For holiday red glitter, add LB Red. For school color glitter, mix to match the specific team color. The transparent base takes on the tint of the added pigment while the large flake particles retain their metallic reflectivity.
