Description
Fluorescent. Precise. Low Cure.
When your customer wants a blue that screams off the shirt, Inktek LBX 98886 Fluorescent Blue delivers. Engineered as part of the LBX Pantone Mixing System, it hits with maximum vibrancy straight from the container — and mixes predictably when you need to dial in a specific Pantone neon or vivid blue target. Low-cure formula means it fully cures at 280°F, making it a safe choice for performance fabrics and poly blends that can’t handle standard cure temps.
Why LBX 98886 Fluorescent Blue?
Fluorescent pigments absorb UV light and re-emit it as visible light, producing a glow that standard pigments simply can’t match. On white and light garments especially, 98886 creates a blue that looks electric under natural light and explodes under blacklight.
LBX 98886 is a mixing base — not just a straight color. It’s formulated to behave predictably when combined with other LBX inks, giving you repeatable, measurable results when matching fluorescent Pantone targets run to run.
Full cure at 280°F means you can safely run fluorescent blue on polyester, tri-blends, and athletic wear without scorching the fabric or melting heat-sensitive treatments. Lower cure temps also reduce dye migration risk on poly garments.
Smooth body that holds detail through 86–160 mesh. Flashes quickly without ghosting or sticking to the platen. Whether you’re hitting a spot color or running it as part of a multi-color fluorescent job, it stays consistent across the full run.
Available Sizes
- QQuart (32 oz) — Great for shops testing fluorescent colors or running smaller accent jobs
- GGallon (128 oz) — The go-to size for regular fluorescent production and Pantone mixing work
- 55-Gallon Pail — High-volume contract shops running neon and fluorescent programs at scale

Printing with LBX 98886 Fluorescent Blue
Use 110–160 mesh for spot color work. Thicker stencil EOM gives you a richer ink deposit and more saturated fluorescent pop — especially important on darker garments over an underbase.
Print wet-on-white or wet-on-flashed underbase. Use a 70–75 durometer squeegee at moderate pressure. Fluorescent inks are thinner-bodied by nature — avoid over-squeegeeing to maintain deposit thickness.
Flash to dry-to-touch before printing additional colors. Keep flash times short — fluorescent pigments are sensitive to prolonged heat exposure, which can reduce color intensity.
Full cure at 280°F internal ink temp. Use a donut probe or thermocouple — do not rely on belt speed alone. Overcuring fluorescent inks will dull the color, so dial in your dryer carefully.
Best Substrates for Fluorescent Blue
- White and light-colored 100% cotton tees
- White polyester and performance wear (low-cure safe)
- Light tri-blend fabrics
- Over a properly flashed white or gray underbase on dark garments
- Fluorescent pigments have lower lightfastness than standard pigments — inform customers who need long-term UV exposure durability
- Always use an underbase on dark garments — fluorescent colors are transparent-leaning and will not block the substrate
- Avoid mixing with opaque whites, which can kill fluorescent intensity
LBX Fluorescent Blue vs. Standard Blue Plastisol
| Feature | Inktek LBX 98886 Fluorescent Blue | Standard Blue Plastisol |
|---|---|---|
| Visual Impact | Fluorescent / UV-Reactive | Standard Chroma |
| Cure Temperature | 280°F (Low Cure) | 320°F (Typical) |
| Pantone Mixing System | ✔ LBX Mixing Base | Varies by Brand |
| Safe for Performance / Poly Fabrics | ✔ Yes | Risk of Scorching |
| Blacklight / UV Glow | ✔ Yes | No |
| Opacity (No Underbase) | Low — Requires Underbase on Dark | Moderate–High |
Exceeding cure temp dulls fluorescent pigments noticeably. Run your dryer at the lowest temp that achieves a full cure — 280°F internal is the target. Use a donut probe, not just a surface gun, to verify actual ink temp.
Fluorescent inks are semi-transparent by nature. On any garment darker than a light gray, you must print a white or gray underbase first. Without it, the substrate color bleeds through and kills the fluorescent effect entirely.
