Description

Degreaser and Ghost Image Remover in One

Most screen prep workflows require two separate steps and products: a degreaser to remove oils and contaminants before coating, and a stain/haze remover to address ghost images after reclaim. ICC 858 handles both functions. Applied after emulsion removal, it simultaneously degreases the mesh and removes ink staining — preparing screens for recoating in a single product step.

Dual-Function Chemistry

Degreases mesh to remove oils, silicone, and contaminants that cause pinholes and adhesion failure, while simultaneously removing ink staining and ghost images.

Pinhole Prevention

Proper degreasing before coating is the primary preventive measure against pinholes. ICC 858 provides complete degreasing to ensure clean mesh-to-emulsion bonding.

Ghost Image Removal

Removes the faint stencil shadows left after standard reclaiming. Restores mesh to clear, uncontaminated state for recoating.

ICC Product Line

Part of the ICC chemical line including ICC 888/931/8270 (degradents), ICC 387 (emulsion remover), and ICC 396 (hand cleaner).

What’s Included

  • ICC 858 Screen Degreaser & Stain Remover (Quart, Gallon, or 5 Gallon)
  • Safety Data Sheet (PDF)

Post-Reclaim Application

Apply after emulsion removal as the final reclaim step before recoating. Scrub in, rinse thoroughly, and inspect for ghost image clearance.

Pinhole Troubleshooting

If you’re experiencing pinholes in finished screens, degreasing with ICC 858 before coating typically resolves contamination-related pinhole causes.

Ghost Image Management

Regular use of 858 prevents ghost image accumulation over multiple print runs. Particularly important for fine-mesh screens used in halftone and detail work.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What makes ICC 858 different from a standard degreaser?

Standard degreasers remove oils and contaminants — they don’t address ghost images. ICC 858 combines degreasing and stain/ghost image removal in one product, streamlining the post-reclaim prep step.

When do I apply ICC 858 in the reclaim process?

After emulsion removal (decoating). Apply 858 to the clean mesh, scrub, rinse thoroughly, and inspect. The screen is then ready for drying and recoating.

Does ICC 858 remove emulsion?

No. ICC 858 is a degreaser and stain remover — it works on clean mesh after emulsion has been removed. A separate emulsion remover is required for decoating.
