Matsui Soft-Tex Base 350 | Polyurethane Rubber-Binder Water-Based Clear Mixing Base for Extreme-Stretch Silicone-Like Custom Colors on Performance Fabrics

Matsui

Matsui Soft-Tex Base 350 (WS0540) is a polyurethane (rubber binder) water-based clear mixing base engineered for extreme-stretch performance fabrics that demand maximum elasticity beyond what acrylic bases can deliver. Part of the Matsui 350 Series — a completely different binder chemistry from the acrylic 301 Series and Stretch Series. Produces a silicone-like printing surface with an extremely soft hand feel and rubber-like stretch that rebounds without cracking on the most demanding high-stretch garments. Prints through mesh at 110-160/inch. Dual purpose: mix with Matsui Neo Pigments and Glow Pigments to create extreme-stretch custom colors, OR use as a clear undercoating before Soft-Tex White 350 for enhanced texture and flexibility. ⚠️ IMPORTANT: Uses Fixer V (2-3%) for wash fastness — NOT Fixer WF-N. Different chemistry requires different additives. Compatible with polyester when used with Under Base Blocker 350. Requires zero viscosity modifications. Cures at 320°F (160°C). PVC-free. Environmentally safe.

Description

Matsui Soft-Tex Base 350 (WS0540)

Matsui Soft-Tex Base 350 (WS0540) is a polyurethane rubber-binder water-based clear mixing base made for extreme-stretch performance fabrics that demand more elasticity than acrylic bases can deliver. It is part of Matsui’s 350 Series, which uses a completely different binder chemistry than the acrylic 301 Series. Soft-Tex Base 350 produces a silicone-like printing surface with an extremely soft hand feel and rubber-like stretch that rebounds without cracking on demanding high-stretch garments. It prints through 110-160 mesh and can be used two ways: mix it with Matsui Neo Pigments and Glow Pigments for extreme-stretch custom colors, or use it as a clear undercoat before Soft-Tex White 350 to enhance texture and flexibility. Important: this product uses Fixer V at 2-3% for wash fastness, not Fixer WF-N. It is compatible with polyester when used with Under Base Blocker 350, requires no viscosity modifications, cures at 320°F (160°C), and is PVC-free.

When Acrylic Stretch Is Not Enough

Acrylic Matsui clears like Stretch Clear, EasyPrint Clear, and Soft Stretch Clear work very well on standard performance fabrics, Dri-Fit, and athletic garments. But some garments stretch beyond what acrylic binders can comfortably follow.

Compression leggings, four-way stretch yoga pants, technical base layers, and other extreme-stretch garments can push acrylic binders to their limit. Soft-Tex Base 350 is built for those jobs. Its polyurethane rubber binder gives the print maximum stretch and rebound, helping it move with the garment without cracking or separating.

The result is a silicone-like print surface with a very soft hand and rubber-like elasticity for high-stretch performance printing.

Critical Additive Information

Soft-Tex Base 350 does not use the same wash-fastness additive as Matsui acrylic bases.

Acrylic bases like 301C, 301M, EasyPrint, Stretch, Soft Stretch, Acrylicon, Simple Clear, and Extender Base use Fixer WF-N. Soft-Tex Base 350 uses Fixer V at 2-3% instead. Do not use Fixer WF-N with the 350 Series.

Compatible additives for the 350 Series include Retarder MG, Thickener B, and RV Additive.

How It Works

Soft-Tex Base 350 serves two main roles in the Matsui 350 Series system.

1. Extreme-stretch clear mixing base
Mix with Matsui Neo Pigments and Glow Pigments to create custom colors with a silicone-like surface and maximum elasticity. The same Matsui color system and Color Mixer Software formulas used with acrylic bases also apply here. The difference is the binder platform.

2. Clear undercoat for Soft-Tex White 350
Print Soft-Tex Base 350 as a clear undercoat, flash it, then print Soft-Tex White 350 on top. This helps create a more refined printed surface with added flexibility.

Neo Pigments and Glow Pigments

Soft-Tex Base 350 is the carrier base for Matsui Neo Pigments and Glow Pigments in extreme-stretch applications.

Soft-Tex Base 350 + Neo Pigments
Add Matsui Neo Pigments to create custom Pantone-matched colors with maximum elasticity and a silicone-like surface.

Soft-Tex Base 350 + Glow Pigments
Mix Matsui Glow Pigments into the base for fluorescent neon effects on stretch garments. These are fluorescent pigments, not glow-in-the-dark pigments. They appear ultra-bright in daylight and react strongly under UV or blacklight.

Soft-Tex Base 350 by itself
Use it alone as a clear undercoat before Soft-Tex White 350, or print it by itself for a clear silicone-surface effect.

Dark Polyester Print Sequence

For dark polyester garments, use the 350 Series in this order:

  • Print Under Base Blocker 350 and flash.
  • Print Soft-Tex White 350 and flash.
  • Print Soft-Tex Base 350 mixed with Neo Pigment colors.
  • Cure at 320°F (160°C).

For a premium texture workflow, you can also print Soft-Tex Base 350 as a clear undercoat before the white layer.

350 Series Additive Compatibility

Additive Dosage Use
Retarder MG 1-5% Extends open time and helps prevent ink from drying in the screen.
Fixer V 2-3% Improves wash fastness for the polyurethane 350 Series binder.
Thickener B 0.25-1% Increases viscosity for more control.
RV Additive 1-3% Reduces viscosity for smoother flow and better penetration.

Not compatible with the 350 Series: Fixer WF-N, Softener MG, and Quick Additive. Use Fixer V for wash fastness with 350 Series products.
