Description

Triangle STA-True Low Bleed 1706 EX Excel White

Polyester and 50/50 blends are the fabrics most likely to bleed — the garment’s dye migrates up into your ink and turns a crisp white pink, gray or yellow. Triangle 1706 EX Excel White is a STA-True low-bleed plastisol engineered specifically to stop that. It’s the polyester-ready version of Triangle’s popular Excel White: a bright, high-opacity white that resists dye migration on performance wear, team jerseys, poly hoodies and 50/50 tees, with minimal show-through on dark garments. It prints smooth and creamy on both manual and high-speed automatic presses, clears the screen cleanly, and works as an underbase for full-color prints or as a bold stand-alone white.

Why Printers Choose 1706 EX

Beats dye migration

STA-True low-bleed chemistry keeps whites bright on the polyester and 50/50 fabrics that bleed the most.

High opacity

Covers dark garments with minimal show-through — great as a one-hit white or a bright underbase.

Prints creamy

Smooth, buttery consistency loads the screen and clears cleanly on manual or auto presses.

Durable wash-fast finish

Cured correctly, it’s tough and wash-durable print after print.

Printing Tips

Setup

  • Mesh: 86–156 (lower mesh = more opacity)
  • Squeegee: 70 durometer, medium pressure
  • Print / flash / print for maximum opacity
  • Use a low-bleed white — don’t over-thin the ink

Curing

  • Cure temperature: 320°F
  • Cure time: about 1.5 minutes (verify with your dryer)
  • Proper cure is what locks in low-bleed performance
  • Do a wash + stretch test on new fabrics
Fighting bad bleeders? Low-bleed inks reduce migration but cannot stop it on every fabric — hot-split polyester and cheap sublimated blends are the worst. For the toughest cases, step up to 1707 Superior White, print a heavier white, and keep cure temps as low as the ink allows. Always test the specific garment first.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Triangle 1706 EX Excel White – Frequently Asked Questions

What is 1706 EX Excel White for?
It’s a STA-True low-bleed plastisol white for 50/50 blends and 100% polyester — performance wear, team uniforms and poly hoodies — where dye migration would otherwise ruin a plain white.
How is it different from regular 1706 Excel White?
1706 Excel White is tuned for 100% cotton and 50/50 blends; 1706 EX is the polyester version with stronger bleed resistance for poly and 50/50. See the comparison table above.
1706 EX or 1707 Superior White — which do I pick?
Both handle 50/50 and polyester. Reach for 1707 Superior White when you’re fighting the worst bleeders (hot-split poly, sublimated blends); 1706 EX is the excellent all-around poly white for most jobs.
What white do I use on 100% cotton?
Use 1701 Phoenix White or 1706 Excel White for cotton and blends, or 1709 Pearl White when you want maximum one-hit opacity.
What temperature does it cure at?
320°F for about 1.5 minutes — always verify full cure with a temperature probe or dryer test strip. Proper cure is what keeps the low-bleed working.
Can I use it as an underbase?
Yes — it makes a bright, high-opacity underbase for full-color prints on dark poly and 50/50, and it prints well as a stand-alone white too.
What mesh and squeegee should I start with?
Start around 86–156 mesh (lower for more opacity) with a 70-durometer squeegee at medium pressure, and print/flash/print for the brightest white.
What sizes does it come in?
Quart, gallon and 5-gallon, plus full pallets (16 or 48 pails) for high-volume shops.
