Is This the Right Ink for Your Job?

Use This When You Want…

Need the most intense, chrome-like metallic silver effect available in plastisol

Printing premium athletic graphics or luxury brand apparel where standard silver isn’t impressive enough

Customer specifically requests a chrome or mirror finish metallic effect

Printing special-edition or premium product lines where the ink needs to look premium

Cost is the primary decision factor (QuickSilver is a premium product)

Printing fine halftone detail (chrome-finish inks perform best at coarser mesh)

Key Features

Maximum Chrome Reflectivity
QuickSilver SE is formulated with premium chrome-quality metallic pigments at elevated concentration for the highest reflective intensity available in plastisol. The result approaches a chrome-plated appearance in the cured print.
Depth & Brilliance
Where standard metallic inks produce a solid metallic surface, QuickSilver SE produces a print with noticeable depth and luminosity — light seems to come from inside the ink film rather than simply reflecting off the surface.
Premium Athletic & Fashion Applications
The extraordinary metallic character of QuickSilver SE is appropriate for premium athletic programs, luxury brand merchandise, and special-edition apparel where the metallic effect itself is a key part of the product’s value proposition.
Performs Best Over White
Like all reflective metallic inks, QuickSilver SE achieves maximum brilliance when printed over a white background. On dark garments, a fully cured white underbase is strongly recommended for maximum chrome intensity.
Standard Cure Process
Despite the premium metallic formulation, QuickSilver SE cures at standard 320°F plastisol cure temperature. No specialized equipment or modified dryer settings required.
Ready to Print
Use directly from the container after thorough stirring. The premium metallic formulation is ready-to-use — do not thin or add reducers.
Pairs Best With
Blend QuickSilver + Silver Platinum to balance maximum chrome intensity with printability across a wider mesh range
Two-color chrome metallic: QuickSilver chrome elements paired with standard Metallic Gold for premium athletic or brand graphics

When to Use QuickSilver SE: Premium Chrome Applications

Premium Athletic & Championship Graphics
Championship shirts, limited-edition team wear, and all-star program apparel where standard silver metallic doesn’t match the premium context. QuickSilver SE delivers the chrome-quality metallic that communicates achievement and excellence through the ink itself.
Luxury Brand & Fashion Merchandise
High-end brand merchandise programs where the metallic finish is part of the premium positioning. Brands in automotive, electronics, fashion, and luxury goods sectors sometimes specify chrome metallic for apparel that needs to align with their product aesthetic.
Special Edition & Limited-Run Apparel
When a design or product line is positioned as special or limited, QuickSilver SE provides a tangible quality differentiation. The chrome finish looks and feels more premium than standard metallic to the customer touching the garment.

How to Wash Test Plastisol Prints

Whenever you change ink, mesh count, dryer settings, or substrate — run a wash test before releasing production. This is the only definitive check for cure and wash durability.

Step 1 — Cure a Test Print
Print and cure a test garment at your production dryer settings. Let cool completely before washing.
Step 2 — Wash Hot
Machine wash on the hottest setting with standard detergent. Hot water is the stress test — if it holds here, it holds everywhere.
Step 3 — Repeat 3–5 Cycles
Run 3–5 full wash/dry cycles. Under-cured prints fail in the first 1–3 washes. Properly cured prints show no change.
Step 4 — Inspect
Look for cracking, peeling, delamination, or color change. A properly cured metallic print retains its shine and adhesion. Do a stretch test — pull the print firmly and check for cracking.
If metallic prints dull or lose sheen after washing: This is almost always under-cure. Check actual garment surface temperature with a donut probe or temp tape — not dryer air temp. Increase dwell time before re-testing.
Do Not Thin or Add Reducers
Adding reducers or extenders dilutes the premium metallic pigment concentration that creates the chrome effect. Use QuickSilver SE unmodified for maximum performance.
White Underbase Strongly Recommended on Dark Garments
The chrome effect is significantly diminished when printed over dark fabric without a white underbase. For maximum chrome intensity on dark garments, a fully cured white underbase is not optional — it’s essential.
Stir Thoroughly — High-Density Pigment Settles
Premium metallic pigment at high concentration settles quickly. Stir from the bottom before printing and re-stir after every 10–15 minutes of press time.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Frequently Asked Questions

What makes QuickSilver SE different from standard Metallic Silver Platinum?
QuickSilver SE is formulated with higher-grade chrome-quality metallic pigments at elevated concentration specifically to push toward a chrome-plated finish appearance. Metallic Silver Platinum is a high-quality standard silver metallic suitable for most silver printing applications. QuickSilver SE is the premium step up when standard silver is good but not impressive enough for the application — typically for luxury brand programs, championship printing, or special-edition apparel.
Will QuickSilver SE actually look like chrome?
In the context of screen printing plastisol, “chrome finish” describes the maximum achievable reflective intensity — it will not look identical to electroplated chrome on metal. What it delivers is a noticeably more brilliant, deeper, more mirror-like metallic surface than standard silver plastisol. Photographed well, it reads as chrome-adjacent. The difference versus standard metallic silver is immediately visible to anyone who handles the finished garment.
Do I need an underbase for dark garments?
Strongly yes. The reflective chrome effect requires a light background to function optimally — the metallic particles reflect light back through the print surface, and a dark background absorbs rather than reflects that light. On any garment darker than a medium gray, a fully cured white underbase is essential for the chrome effect to be visible.
Can I mix QuickSilver SE with other inks?
We recommend using it unmodified for maximum chrome performance. If blending with other metallic inks (e.g., Metallic Silver Platinum to adjust printability), do so with the understanding that each percent of non-QuickSilver addition reduces the chrome intensity proportionally. Do not add Process Clear, Curable Reducer, or other plastisol additives — they dilute the premium metallic concentration.
