CCI Re-Stor — Fast-Acting Semi-Viscous Ghost & Image Stain Remover with Proprietary Mesh Protector

After full screen reclaim, ghost images and cured ink stains remain embedded in the mesh. Paste removers clear them, but slowly and with effort. Caustic products clear them, but dangerously. Re-Stor is CCI’s professional-grade answer: a fast-acting, semi-viscous liquid that spreads quickly across large mesh areas, penetrates deep into mesh knuckles where ink is trapped, and breaks it down with a proprietary formula that includes a mesh protector — so the mesh comes out of the process cleaner and stronger, not weaker. Effective on plastisol, water-based, UV, and solvent inks. Low odor, low VOC, non-flammable, biodegradable. Gallon and larger sizes are classified hazmat — UPS fee $58/box. Quart ships standard.

Fast-Acting Formula

Re-Stor is specifically described as fast-acting — designed for professional reclaim environments where throughput matters. The chemistry penetrates deeply into mesh knuckles and begins breaking down cured ink residues quickly after application. A 1–5 minute dwell handles most staining scenarios without extended wait times.

Semi-Viscous — Spreads Easily Across Large Areas

The semi-viscous formula sits between thin liquids (which run off) and thick pastes (which require effort to spread). It applies quickly with a soft brush or pad and covers large mesh areas efficiently. CCI specifically notes it is ideal for screens with multiple or heavy ghost stains — high-volume shops reclaiming screens used for dark colors repeatedly benefit most.

All Ink Systems — Plastisol, WB, UV, Solvent

Designed for all ink systems. Effective on plastisol, water-based, UV, and solvent-based ink stains. Whether your shop runs one ink type or all four, Re-Stor handles the ghost images they leave behind.

Proprietary Mesh Protector

Re-Stor contains a proprietary mesh protector — the same CCI technology found in the LSR series. This chemistry allows Re-Stor to aggressively target cured ink deposits without compromising the tensile strength and integrity of the mesh fibers. The result is cleaner screens that also last longer.

Penetrates Deep Into Mesh

Ghost images are cured ink embedded in the mesh knuckles — the intersection points where threads cross. Standard cleaning chemistry doesn’t reach them. Re-Stor’s advanced chemistry specifically penetrates deep into these knuckle points to lift and dissolve the ink at its source, not just from the surface of the mesh.

Better Stencil Adhesion After Use

Cleaner mesh bonds emulsion more consistently. Ghost images and residual ink staining are a primary cause of pinholes, fish-eyes, and emulsion adhesion failure in the next print run. Re-Stor’s thorough cleaning directly improves the quality and consistency of the next stencil coating.

Low Odor & Low VOC

Significantly less fumes than paste-type stain removers and caustic haze removers. For screen room operators handling haze removal daily, the cumulative reduction in chemical exposure is meaningful. Low VOC also simplifies compliance with air quality regulations.

Non-Flammable Despite Hazmat Classification

Re-Stor is classified as corrosive and combustible (triggering hazmat shipping on gallon+), but the formula is non-flammable as prepared for use. This is an important distinction for screen rooms that have flash dryers, ovens, or other ignition sources nearby.

💬 Re-Stor vs. CCI LSR-30

Both are CCI semi-viscous liquid stain removers with proprietary mesh protectors and hazmat classification on gallon+. The practical differences:

Re-Stor: 1–5 min dwell. Fast-acting positioning. Spreads easily for wide coverage. Best for screens with multiple or heavy stains across large areas. Good for production throughput.

LSR-30: Up to 10 min dwell. Includes built-in degreasing (no separate step). Better for the most aged, deeply embedded single-area stains where extended dwell is the answer. Re-Stor is the faster, broader choice. LSR-30 is the deeper, longer-acting choice.

How to Use CCI Re-Stor

Step 1 — Complete Full Reclaim First

Remove all ink residue and emulsion from the screen using your standard reclaim process. Re-Stor targets the ghost images and stains that remain after reclaim — it is not a replacement for press wash or emulsion remover.

Step 2 — Put on PPE

Wear gloves and protective eye protection before handling Re-Stor. Store in a cool, well-ventilated area away from heat and open flame. Consult SDS before first use.

Step 3 — Apply to Both Sides

Apply Re-Stor directly to both the print side and squeegee side of the screen using a soft brush or pad. Focus on areas with visible ghost images, ink staining, or residual discoloration.

Step 4 — Scrub Gently Into Mesh

Scrub the product gently into the mesh with a soft brush or pad, working the chemistry into stained areas. The semi-viscous formula stays on the mesh surface during scrubbing, maintaining consistent contact.

Step 5 — Dwell 1–5 Minutes

Allow Re-Stor to dwell for 1–5 minutes depending on the severity of the staining. Light or fresh ghost images: 1–2 minutes. Stubborn or multiple stains: 3–5 minutes. Do not allow the product to fully dry on the screen during dwell.

Step 6 — High-Pressure Rinse, Bottom to Top

Rinse thoroughly with a high-pressure washer. Start from the bottom of the screen and work upward on the print side. This direction prevents dissolved ink from washing back into already-cleaned areas.

Step 7 — Reverse and Rinse Again

Flip the screen and high-pressure rinse the squeegee side as well, again from bottom to top. Ensure all Re-Stor and dissolved ink residue is completely removed from both sides.

Step 8 — Check and Repeat If Needed

Inspect the screen for remaining stains or ghost images. For particularly stubborn staining, reapply and repeat the process. High load capacity means a second application remains fully effective.

Step 9 — Air Dry Before Recoating

Allow the screen to air dry completely before applying new emulsion. The mesh is now clean, degreased, and optimally prepared for strong, consistent emulsion adhesion.

⚠️ Do Not Let Dry on Screen During Dwell

If the dwell time extends long or the screen is in a warm, dry environment, Re-Stor can begin to dry on the mesh. This makes removal significantly more difficult. Monitor the screen during dwell and mist lightly with water if needed to keep the formula active. Proceed to the high-pressure rinse before the product fully dries.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

⚠️

Hazmat Shipping Notice

Sizes 1 gallon and larger are classified as hazardous materials. A UPS Hazmat fee of $58.00 per box applies at checkout, even if the order qualifies for free shipping. Quart size ships standard — no hazmat fee.

Why does this product have a hazmat shipping fee?

The concentrate is classified as corrosive and combustible by DOT, which triggers the hazardous materials classification. A UPS Hazmat fee of $58.00 per box applies to 1 gallon and larger sizes, added at checkout even if the order qualifies for free shipping. The quart size ships as non-hazardous — no additional fee. Despite the hazmat classification on the concentrate, Re-Stor is non-flammable as formulated for use.

What ink types does Re-Stor work on?

Re-Stor is designed for all ink systems and is effective on plastisol, water-based, UV, and solvent-based ink stains. It addresses ghost images from any ink type used in professional screen printing.

How long is the dwell time?

1 to 5 minutes, adjusted based on stain severity. For fresh or light ghost images, 1–2 minutes is often sufficient. For stubborn, multiple, or heavy stains, allow up to 5 minutes. Do not allow Re-Stor to dry on the screen during the dwell period.

What is the proprietary mesh protector and why does it matter?

CCI’s proprietary mesh protector is a chemistry component built into Re-Stor that helps preserve mesh fiber strength while the product aggressively attacks cured ink deposits. Without this, aggressive stain removal chemistry can stress and weaken mesh fibers over time, leading to premature screen wear. The mesh protector allows Re-Stor to clean effectively without that trade-off.

Why does CCI say Re-Stor improves stencil adhesion and extends screen life?

Ghost images and residual ink staining are a primary cause of pinholes, fish-eyes, and emulsion adhesion failure. When ink residue occupies the mesh knuckle points, emulsion doesn’t bond to those areas consistently, creating microscopic gaps that become print defects. Re-Stor removes that contamination, giving the emulsion a clean, consistent mesh surface to bond with. And the proprietary mesh protector maintains fiber tensile strength through repeated cleaning cycles, extending how long the screen stays usable.

How is Re-Stor different from paste haze removers?

Re-Stor is a semi-viscous liquid, not a paste. Key differences: easier and faster to apply across large areas (no slow paste spreading), lower odor, lower VOC, and the formula includes a mesh protector. CCI positions it as performing better than most paste stain removers while being more comfortable to work with.

How is Re-Stor different from CCI LSR-30?

Both are CCI semi-viscous liquid stain removers with proprietary mesh protectors and the same hazmat classification. The key differences: Re-Stor is fast-acting with a 1–5 minute dwell and is best when you have screens with multiple or widespread ghost images. LSR-30 allows up to 10 minutes of dwell and includes built-in degreasing — making it the better choice for the most aged, deeply embedded stains where extended chemistry time is the answer.

Do I need to remove ink and emulsion before applying Re-Stor?

Yes. Re-Stor targets the ghost images and stains that remain after full reclaim — it is the final step. Remove all ink residue and emulsion from the screen first using your standard reclaim process, then apply Re-Stor.
