Chromaline ChromaTech PL Photopolymer Screen Printing Emulsion – High-Solids, Fast-Exposing Emulsion for Plastisol Ink Printing

Chromaline

Chromaline PL (Chroma/Tech PL) is the high-build pure photopolymer emulsion engineered for plastisol printers who need thicker ink deposits with fewer coating passes. At 50% solids and 4,600 CPS — the same viscosity as ChromaBlue — Chromaline PL is built specifically to maximize emulsion over mesh (EOM) efficiently. A standard 1+1 coat produces the equivalent ink deposit of four wet-on-wet diazo coats, screens dry fast, and reclaim is clean with no locking. If you’re printing specialty plastisol effects that require a thicker ink column, or you want to reduce coating passes and dry time without sacrificing deposit quality, Chromaline PL was built for exactly that.

Description

Maximum Plastisol Deposit, Fewer Coating Passes — Chromaline PL

Chromaline PL is built for one job: getting the maximum ink deposit out of a plastisol stencil while minimizing the labor and time required to coat and dry screens. Its 50% solids SBQ photopolymer chemistry is the same class as ChromaBlue, but optimized for high EOM — a single 1+1 coating produces the equivalent deposit of four wet-on-wet coats with a standard diazo emulsion. Screens dry faster. Fewer coating passes. Thick, consistent ink columns for specialty effects like puff, glitter, high-density simulation, and other applications where stencil height is a production requirement. Reclaim is clean with no locking — high-build stencils don’t have to be a reclaim nightmare.

Why EOM Matters for Plastisol Specialty Effects

Emulsion over mesh (EOM) is the thickness of the stencil above the mesh surface. Higher EOM means a taller ink column, which directly affects deposit thickness — critical for puff, glitter, high-density, metallic, and other specialty plastisol effects that require a defined ink height to work correctly. Chromaline PL builds high EOM in fewer passes than standard emulsions.

1+1 = 4 Wet-on-Wet Diazo Coats

Standard diazo-based high-build routines require 2+2 or even 3+3 coats — plus extended dry time between each pass. Chromaline PL’s 50% high-solids formula delivers equivalent EOM in a single 1+1 pass. That’s less time at the coating trough, less time in the drying cabinet, and more screens ready per shift.

Chromaline PL vs. ChromaBlue

Both are 50% solids SBQ photopolymers at 4,600 CPS designed for plastisol. ChromaBlue is Chromaline’s benchmark all-around plastisol emulsion. Chromaline PL is specifically optimized for maximum EOM and high-build applications — the right choice when deposit thickness is the primary requirement rather than general-purpose plastisol production.

Clean Reclaim — No Locking

High-build stencils are notorious for locking into the mesh during extended print runs, especially with specialty inks. Chromaline PL is formulated to reclaim cleanly with Chroma/Strip — no stubborn residue, no mechanical locking, no hours of soaking required. High-build screens should not mean a reclaim problem.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Frequently Asked Questions — Chromaline PL

What is Chromaline PL designed for?

Chromaline PL is designed for plastisol printers who need maximum emulsion over mesh (EOM) with fewer coating passes. Its 50% solids SBQ formula builds a thick, high-deposit stencil in a single 1+1 coat — ideal for puff, glitter, high-density simulation, metallic, and other specialty plastisol effects that require a taller ink column.

What is the difference between Chromaline PL and ChromaBlue?

Both are 50% solids SBQ photopolymers at 4,600 CPS for plastisol. ChromaBlue is Chromaline’s benchmark all-around plastisol emulsion for general production. Chromaline PL is specifically optimized for maximum EOM and high-build applications — the right choice when thick ink deposit is the primary production requirement rather than general-purpose plastisol use.

Can I use Chromaline PL for water-based or discharge inks?

No — Chromaline PL is designed exclusively for plastisol inks. For water-based and discharge applications, use Hydro X Blue or Hydro X Red, which are formulated with hybrid photopolymer chemistry to resist the chemical aggression of those ink systems.

Does Chromaline PL require a diazo sensitizer?

No — Chromaline PL is pre-sensitized and ready to use straight from the container. Stir gently before each use. There is no diazo to mix and no sensitized shelf-life clock.

Is Chromaline PL freeze/thaw stable?

No — Chromaline PL is NOT freeze/thaw stable. Frozen emulsion is permanently damaged. River City Supply ships from San Antonio, TX for more safe winter shipping days than northern distributors.
