Description

Hi-Tex Plastisol Durability for Newman MZX Roller Frames

MZX frames at 35 Newtons represent a significant step up from fixed aluminum frame tension levels — and at that tension, Hi-Tex’s thicker thread structure holds up under the repeated squeegee pressure of manual press production. For shops with MZX frames doing solid plastisol spot color work, underbases, and heavy-deposit printing, Hi-Tex delivers the ink volume and screen durability that production requires.

📦 What’s Included

Six (6) Saati Hi-Tex mesh panels sized 23″×31″ with MZX-profile locking strips, ready to install in your Newman MZX-style roller frame. Mesh count and color selected at purchase. Mesh panel only — roller frame not included. Newman Roller Master or manual tools required. Must degrease and abrade before coating.

MZX vs. M3 — Know Your Frame Before Ordering

These panels are for MZX-style frames only (1 7/16″ roller diameter, 35N max tension). They will NOT fit M3 frames. Check your frame: M3 has 1 5/8″ rollers, larger corners, requires a 3/4″ socket. MZX has 1 7/16″ rollers, smaller hardware, lower maximum tension. When in doubt, call us at (512) 454-0505 before ordering.

🟠 MZX Frame (Order These)

1 7/16″ roller · 35N max · smaller hardware · manual & small auto shops

🔵 M3 Frame (Order M3 Panels Instead)

1 5/8″ roller · 85N max · 3/4″ socket · larger hardware · production auto press

🔗 You’ll Also Need: Locking Strips

These mesh panels require locking strips to secure the mesh into your Newman roller frame channels. Locking strips are sold separately — add a roll to your order to complete your setup. → Nortech Newman Roller Frame Locking Strip (50ft Roll)

⚠️ Required: Degrease Before Every Use

Hi-Tex has no surface treatment. Degrease and abrade every panel before coating with emulsion — before first use and before every reuse. Skipping causes poor stencil adhesion. Hi-Dro MZX panels coat immediately without degreasing.

Hi-Tex MZX — Mesh Count Guide

Mesh Count Color Thread Dia. Open Area Best For
110 Hi-Tex ⬜ White 80 µm High-opacity white underbases, thick specialty inks, metallic inks
110 Hi-Tex 🟨 Yellow 80 µm Heavy underbases where reduced UV scatter is preferred
158 Hi-Tex ⬜ White 64 µm ~38% Most popular. Standard plastisol spot colors, general production
158 Hi-Tex 🟨 Yellow 64 µm ~38% Halftone-sensitive plastisol work, tighter artwork
196 Hi-Tex 🟨 Yellow 55 µm Fine detail plastisol, halftones at standard thread durability
230 Hi-Tex 🟨 Yellow 48 µm High-detail color, simulated process, fine halftone plastisol

Hi-Dro vs. Hi-Tex — Choosing the Right Mesh for Your Newman Roller Frame

Both Hi-Dro and Hi-Tex panels are available for Newman roller frames. Most shops stock both and switch based on job type. Here’s how to decide:

Feature / Factor 🔴 Hi-Tex (This Product) 💧 Hi-Dro
Thread Diameter (158/157 count) 64 µm — Thicker 48 µm — Thinner
Tear Resistance Excellent — production grade Handle with care
Squeegee Pressure Needed Higher — heavier deposits Lower — easier printing
Plastisol Performance Excellent — decades-proven workhorse Good — softer hand result
Water-Based Performance Good — must degrease first Excellent — purpose-built
Halftone Performance Good — thicker threads clip fine dots Excellent — less dot clipping
Surface Treatment None — must degrease before use Plasma treated — coat immediately
High Tension Tolerance Excellent — built for high Newton levels Good — thinner threads have limits
Best For Heavy plastisol, white underbases, high-deposit production Water-based, discharge, halftones, soft-hand plastisol

Pro tip: Most high-performance shops stock both. One mesh type for water-based and halftone work, the other for heavy plastisol production. Roller frames make switching practical — retension to the new mesh count and go.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Are these panels compatible with M3 Newman roller frames?

No. MZX panels fit MZX frames only. If you have M3 frames, order Hi-Tex M3 panels instead. Call (512) 454-0505 to confirm your frame type.

Do Hi-Tex MZX panels need degreasing before coating?

Yes — always. Use a quality screen degreaser before coating with emulsion. Hi-Dro MZX panels do not require degreasing.

What is the difference between Hi-Tex and Hi-Dro for MZX frames?

Hi-Tex: thicker thread, more durable, plastisol workhorse, must degrease. Hi-Dro MZX: thinner thread, plasma-treated, no degreasing, best for water-based and halftones. Most shops stock both.
