Saati Hi-Dro MZX Newman Style Roller Frame Mesh Panels 23″×31″ (6-Pack) – Thin Thread Plasma-Treated Mesh for Newman MZX Retensionable Roller Frames
Nortech
The Saati Hi-Dro MZX Newman Style Roller Frame Mesh Panels 23″×31″ (6-Pack) bring Saati’s thin-thread, plasma-treated Hi-Dro mesh to the Newman MZX-style roller frame — the workhorse retensionable frame for manual press and smaller auto press shops. With a 1 7/16″ roller diameter and 35N max tension, MZX frames are the entry point into the Newman roller frame system. These panels deliver Hi-Dro’s wider mesh openings, lower squeegee pressure requirements, and no-degreasing plasma treatment — purpose-built for water-based and discharge inks. Not compatible with M3 frames.
⚠️ Frame Compatibility Warning
These panels fit MZX-style Newman roller frames only (1 7/16″ roller diameter). They will NOT fit M3 frames (1 5/8″ roller diameter). See the Description tab for a full M3 vs MZX comparison and how to identify your frame before ordering.

Description
Hi-Dro Quality for MZX Roller Frames — The Manual Press Thin Thread Upgrade
MZX frames are Newman’s manual press system — retensionable up to 35 Newtons, lighter than M3 frames, and ideal for shops doing large-image printing on manual presses or lower-volume auto work. Hi-Dro’s thin thread and wider mesh openings compound the MZX system’s retensionability benefit — less squeegee pressure at whatever tension level you run, cleaner ink release on snap-off, and no degreasing step slowing down your coating workflow.
📦 What’s Included
Six (6) Saati Hi-Dro mesh panels sized 23″×31″ with MZX-profile locking strips, pre-woven and ready to install in your Newman MZX-style roller frame. Mesh count and color selected at time of purchase. Note: This is the mesh panel only — the roller frame is not included. Newman Roller Master or manual stretching tools required for installation and tensioning. Not compatible with M3 frames.
MZX vs. M3 — Know Your Frame Before Ordering
These panels are for MZX-style frames only (1 7/16″ roller diameter, 35N max tension). They will NOT fit M3 frames. Check your frame: M3 has 1 5/8″ rollers, larger corners, requires a 3/4″ socket. MZX has 1 7/16″ rollers, smaller hardware, lower maximum tension. When in doubt, call us at (512) 454-0505 before ordering.
🟠 MZX Frame (Order These)
1 7/16″ roller · 35N max · smaller hardware · manual & small auto shops
🔵 M3 Frame (Order M3 Panels Instead)
1 5/8″ roller · 85N max · 3/4″ socket · larger hardware · production auto press
🔗 You’ll Also Need: Locking Strips
These mesh panels require locking strips to secure the mesh into your Newman roller frame channels. Locking strips are sold separately — add a roll to your order to complete your setup. → Nortech Newman Roller Frame Locking Strip (50ft Roll)

Why Hi-Dro Pairs Well with MZX Roller Frames
💪 Less Pressure at MZX Tension Levels
MZX frames run at up to 35 Newtons. At that tension level, Hi-Dro’s wider mesh openings mean ink clears the screen more easily than standard Hi-Tex — requiring less squeegee force. For manual press operators running MZX frames, that reduction in effort per stroke adds up significantly across a long production run.
💧 Purpose-Built for Water-Based
Hi-Dro was engineered specifically for water-based and discharge inks. The plasma treatment reduces water-based ink drying in the screen during pauses. The thinner thread and wider openings let water-based inks flow through more freely. On MZX frames used for large-image manual water-based printing, this is the right mesh choice.
⚡ No Degreasing — Coat Immediately
Hi-Dro’s DBD plasma treatment eliminates the degreasing prep step entirely. Install the panel, tension it to spec, and coat with emulsion immediately. No extra prep time, no forgotten degreasing steps causing stencil failure on press.
Hi-Dro MZX — Mesh Count Guide
| Mesh Count | Color | Thread Dia. | Open Area | Best For |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 110 Hi-Dro | ⬜ White | 64 µm | ~60% | Discharge whites, heavy water-based deposits, thick specialty inks |
| 157 Hi-Dro | ⬜ White | 48 µm | 46% | General water-based spot colors, all-around production printing |
| 157 Hi-Dro | 🟨 Yellow | 48 µm | 46% | Most popular. Halftones, water-based, plastisol — 40–55+ LPI |
| 198 Hi-Dro | 🟨 Yellow | 40 µm | 44% | Fine detail, lighter ink deposits, photographic simulated process |
| 230 Hi-Dro | 🟨 Yellow | 40 µm | 38% | High-detail halftones, 4-color process, fine-line artwork |
| 305 Hi-Dro | 🟨 Yellow | 31 µm | ~36% | Ultra-fine photographic detail — handle with extra care |
Hi-Dro vs. Hi-Tex — Choosing the Right Mesh for Your Newman Roller Frame
Both Hi-Dro and Hi-Tex panels are available for Newman roller frames. Most shops stock both and switch based on job type. Here’s how to decide:
| Feature / Factor | 💧 Hi-Dro (This Product) | 🔴 Hi-Tex |
|---|---|---|
| Thread Diameter (157 count) | 48 µm — Thinner | 64 µm — Thicker |
| Open Area (157/158 count) | 46% — More Open | ~38% — Less Open |
| Squeegee Pressure Needed | Lower — less effort per stroke | Higher — more force required |
| Water-Based Performance | Excellent — purpose-built | Good — must degrease first |
| Plastisol Performance | Good — softer hand result | Excellent — workhorse for heavy deposits |
| Halftone Performance | Excellent — less dot clipping | Good — thicker threads clip fine dots |
| Surface Treatment | Plasma treated — coat immediately | None — must degrease before use |
| Tear Resistance | Handle with care | More durable — thicker threads |
| Best For | Water-based, discharge, halftones, soft-hand plastisol | Heavy plastisol, underbases, high-deposit production |
Pro tip: Most high-performance shops stock both. One mesh type for water-based and halftone work, the other for heavy plastisol production. Roller frames make switching practical — retension to the new mesh count and go.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Are these panels compatible with M3 Newman roller frames?
No. MZX panels fit MZX frames only (1 7/16″ roller, 35N max). M3 frames have a 1 5/8″ roller — different channel profile. If you have M3 frames, order Hi-Dro M3 panels instead. Call us at (512) 454-0505 if unsure.
What is the difference between Newman MZX and M3 frames?
MZX: 1 7/16″ roller, 35N max tension, lighter, manual press and small auto shops.
M3: 1 5/8″ roller, 85N max tension, 300% stronger, production auto press shops.
Different locking strip profiles — panels are NOT interchangeable between the two.
Do Hi-Dro MZX panels need to be degreased before coating?
No. Plasma-treated — coat immediately after installation. Hi-Tex MZX panels do require degreasing before every use.
What is the difference between Hi-Dro and Hi-Tex for MZX roller frames?
Hi-Dro: thin thread, plasma treated, no degreasing, best for water-based and halftones. Hi-Tex MZX: standard thread, must degrease, best for heavy plastisol and underbases. Most shops stock both.
Where do these ship from?
