Why LBX 88888 Yellow?

Golds to Yellows — One Base Covers All

Add LBX Orange to shift warm toward gold and burnt yellow. Add LBX Green for lime and yellow-green targets. Add LBX White to hit pastel yellows and cream tones. LBX Yellow is the anchor of the warm spectrum in the LBX system.

Engineered for Pantone Mixing

LBX 88888 is a precision mixing base — weigh your components on a gram scale, follow the LBX formula, and get a repeatable Pantone match every time. The free formulator at formulator.screenprintsupplies.com handles all the math.

Low Cure for Performance Fabrics

Full cure at 280°F means safe use on polyester, tri-blends, and athletic wear — the primary substrates in the collegiate and sports apparel market where yellow and gold are most in demand.

Consistent Production Printability

Smooth, stable body that holds detail from 86 to 160 mesh. Doesn’t go soupy in a warm pressroom. Flashes cleanly without ghosting — whether running a straight yellow or a mixed Pantone gold.

Available Sizes

  • QQuart (32 oz) — Good for shops adding yellow mixing capability or running smaller athletic and spirit jobs
  • GGallon (128 oz) — Standard production size for shops with regular Pantone mixing and athletic programs
  • 55-Gallon Pail — High-volume contract shops with heavy collegiate, spirit, and athletics programs

See It in Action

Printing with LBX 88888 Yellow

Step 1 — Get Your Formula

Go to formulator.screenprintsupplies.com, enter your Pantone target, and get exact gram-weight ratios for each LBX base needed. No guessing, no waste.

Step 2 — Weigh Your Inks

Use a digital gram scale accurate to 0.1g. Accuracy here is what separates a consistent Pantone match from a close miss — don’t estimate by eye.

Step 3 — Mix Thoroughly

Mix until fully homogeneous — no streaks or color variation. A paddle mixer on a drill makes this fast and consistent. Mix more than you need to avoid batch variation mid-job.

Step 4 — Print and Cure at 280°F

Target 280°F internal ink temp. Verify with a donut probe. Do a stretch test and wash test before shipping customer orders.

Yellow & Gold Pantone Targets LBX 88888 Helps You Hit

School & Athletic Yellows

PMS 109, 116, 123 — bright school yellows and varsity yellows; mix LBX Yellow + small amounts of Orange for the warmest school golds

Athletic Golds

PMS 130, 137, 143 — rich collegiate golds; mix LBX Yellow + LBX Orange for the deep warm gold range used in major athletic programs

Lime & Yellow-Green

PMS 382, 390, 396 — fresh lime and yellow-green; mix LBX Yellow + LBX Green for the full lime-to-chartreuse spectrum

Cream & Pastel Yellow

PMS 9121, 9122, 9123 — soft pastel yellows and warm creams; mix LBX Yellow + significant LBX White for light-value warm tones

⚠ Always Mix by Weight, Not Volume

LBX formulas are weight-based. Measuring by volume introduces errors that throw off color matches — especially in gold and yellow tones where small shifts look dramatically different on press. Use a digital gram scale for every mix.

⚠ Mix More Than You Think You Need

Re-mixing yellow or gold mid-job risks batch variation that shows in side-by-side comparison. Calculate your ink needs, add 20% buffer, and mix it all in one batch before the job starts.

LBX 88888 Yellow Is a Pantone Mixing Ink — Not Just a Color

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What’s the difference between LBX Yellow and LBX Orange?

LBX Yellow is a clean, bright yellow that anchors school yellows and athletic golds. LBX Orange is a warm, saturated orange that anchors sports oranges. To mix athletic gold tones — which sit between the two — you combine both bases in ratios determined by the free formulator. Each base alone covers its end of the warm spectrum; together they cover everything in between.

Can I print LBX 88888 straight from the container?

Yes — it’s a rich, saturated yellow right out of the container and prints well as a straight spot color. Its real value is as a mixing base in the LBX Pantone system, but it performs as a standalone yellow for jobs where an exact Pantone match isn’t required.

Is LBX Yellow safe on polyester and performance wear?

Yes — full cure at 280°F means it won’t scorch poly fabrics or damage moisture-wicking treatments. It also reduces dye migration risk on poly garments compared to standard-cure inks running at 320°F.

How do I use the free LBX Pantone Formulator?

Go to formulator.screenprintsupplies.com — no login required. Enter your Pantone target and the tool returns exact gram-weight ratios for each LBX base needed. Weigh on a digital gram scale accurate to 0.1g, mix thoroughly, and print.

How do I confirm the ink is fully cured?

Use a donut probe or thermocouple to verify 280°F internal ink temp. Do a stretch test — fully cured plastisol stretches without cracking. For production runs, wash test before shipping customer orders.

Does River City Supply ship same day?

Yes — orders placed before 3:30 PM CT Monday through Friday ship the same day. Free shipping on orders over $200. Call (512) 454-0505 or email [email protected].
