SAATItex PHU2 is a universal, red one-part pure-photopolymer garment emulsion that does it all — plastisol, solvent, water-based and discharge. SAATItex PHU2 — Universal Pure Photopolymer Garment Emulsion

If you print more than one ink system, PHU2 simplifies your screen room. It’s a red, one-part pure-photopolymer (SBQ) emulsion that’s solvent and water-based ink resistant, and it’s recommended for discharge printing as-is — no diazo or catalyst required. With 47% solids and medium viscosity it coats smoothly on every mesh count, exposes roughly four times faster than two-part emulsions, and still reclaims cleanly. One universal emulsion for plastisol, solvent, water-based and discharge work.

Coating, Exposure & Reclaim Guide

1. Degrease

Degrease and abrade new mesh so the stencil bonds — see our degreasers.

2. Coat

With a scoop coater, 1–2 coats substrate side + 1–2 squeegee side; add coats for a thicker stencil.

3. Dry & expose

Dry below 104°F (40°C), substrate side down, in the dark; expose to hold 7 steps (film) or 6 (CTS).

4. Post-expose & reclaim

Post-expose for extra water/solvent resistance; reclaim later with emulsion remover.

Handle under yellow safelight. Keep vacuum at least 0.66 bar (20 in Hg) for tight film contact. Always confirm exposure with a 21-step sensitivity guide when you change light source, mesh or coating. Sealed shelf life approx. one year, stored cool.

Need extra-fine detail? PHU2 can also be sensitized with diazo when maximum sharpness is required for high-resolution art — grab a 4-gram diazo and stir it in.

What inks does PHU2 work with?
It’s universal — solvent and water-based ink resistant, and recommended for discharge inks as-is. That makes it a great single emulsion for shops running plastisol, water-based and discharge on the same screens.
Do I need to add diazo for discharge or water-based?
No — PHU2 is discharge-ready straight from the bucket. For maximum durability on long water-based or discharge runs, though, you can stir in a 4-gram bottle of diazo to further boost water resistance and toughness. Always post-expose for the hardest stencil.
Does adding diazo do anything else?
Yes — besides extra durability, diazo can sharpen edge definition when you need maximum resolution on fine detail. Note that once catalyzed with diazo, the stencil is no longer easily reclaimable.
How much faster does it expose?
About 4× faster than typical two-part emulsions, thanks to its SBQ pure-photopolymer chemistry. Exact times depend on your light source, mesh and coating — confirm with a 21-step guide (hold 7 steps with film, 6 with CTS).
How should I coat it?
Degrease first, then use a scoop coater for 1–2 coats on the substrate side and 1–2 on the squeegee side. Dry below 104°F (40°C), substrate side down, in a dust-free safelight area.
How do I make it more water resistant?
Post-expose the developed stencil with daylight or an exposure lamp — this is especially effective for improving water resistance of SBQ emulsions on water-based and discharge jobs. Adding diazo boosts it further.
Is it easy to reclaim?
Yes, as long as it hasn’t been catalyzed with diazo. Reclaim with SAATI emulsion removers; rinse the squeegee side well during developing to avoid residue, especially on higher-mesh dyed fabric.
