ROQ PEEL Automatic Film Removal Machine for Screen Printing

ROQ

The ROQ PEEL is an automatic heat transfer film removal module that bolts onto the ROQ Impress — eliminating the last manual labor step in the DTF production workflow. After the Impress presses the transfer onto the garment, the PEEL automatically detects and removes the DTF backing film with millimeter precision. Features adjustable peel speed (optimizes for different job sizes), adjustable stroke length (handles varying transfer sheet sizes), a laser alignment marker for precise pickup positioning, and a 120-liter waste bin for efficient disposal of used backing sheets. Processes up to 500 garments per hour when paired with the Impress. Together with ROQ FEED (the automatic transfer placement module), PEEL closes the loop on a fully-automated DTF production line — one operator loads and unloads garments while FEED, Impress, and PEEL handle everything in between.

See How ROQ PEEL Automates Backing Film Removal on the ROQ Impress

ROQ PEEL is one of two automation add-on modules that bolt onto the ROQ Impress to speed up and automate the DTF heat transfer process. Paired with ROQ FEED, it transforms the Impress from a press that still needs a manual operator station into a fully-automated heat transfer line where one person manages the whole workflow. Watch the video below to see both add-ons in action alongside the Impress — the automated line is exactly what ROQ PEEL enables:

Why PEEL Completes the Fully-Automated DTF Line

🎯 The Last Automation Step for a Fully-Automated DTF Line

Even with the Impress and FEED installed, one manual step remains: peeling the backing film off each transfer after it’s been pressed. PEEL automates this final step. Detects the transfer, grabs the backing film, and removes it automatically with millimeter precision. With PEEL, Impress, and FEED all running together, one operator manages the entire line — loading blank garments and unloading finished ones.

✋ Precision Film Detection and Removal

PEEL automatically detects each transfer sheet after the Impress presses it and removes the backing film with millimeter precision. No manual operator time spent peeling. No missed peels leaving film stuck to garments. No inconsistent peel angles causing transfer damage. Every peel is uniform.

⚙️ Adjustable Peel Speed

Different transfer types, sizes, and fabrics peel best at different speeds. PEEL’s adjustable peel speed lets you dial in optimal performance across your full job mix. Save speed settings per job type or recipe for instant recall.

📏 Adjustable Stroke Length

Transfer sheets vary in size — from small pocket-print sheets to full-front graphic sheets. PEEL’s adjustable stroke length matches the peel motion to the sheet size, so you’re not wasting time on oversized strokes for small transfers or undersized strokes for large ones.

🔦 Laser Alignment Marker

A laser marker projects the exact pickup position for backing film removal — precise alignment every time, no guesswork. Especially critical when running different transfer sizes through in sequence; the laser makes setup changes visual and fast.

📦 Up to 500 Garments Per Hour Capacity

PEEL is sized to match the Impress’s production throughput — up to 500 garments per hour in paired operation. PEEL won’t bottleneck the Impress’s production speed. Full-line capacity matches full-line throughput.

🗑️ 120-Liter Waste Bin for Used Backing Sheets

Used DTF backing film piles up fast on a high-volume line. PEEL includes a built-in 120-liter waste bin that captures removed backing sheets — no operator interruption to empty a small trash can every few minutes. Empty the 120L bin at shift change or end of day, not mid-run.

🔌 Single-Connection Impress Integration

Like ROQ FEED, PEEL integrates with the Impress via a single connection. Powered by the Impress, controlled from the Impress HMI. No separate controller, no secondary software, no extra electrical drop.

👤 Completes the 1-Operator Workflow

Traditional DTF production needs 4–6 operators (loading, placing, pressing, peeling, unloading, stacking). Impress + FEED + PEEL together need just 1 operator — who loads blanks and unloads finished garments. Everything between those two human steps is automated. Industrial-scale production with minimal labor.

🏭 ROI — Complete the Labor-Savings Automation

Shops that buy FEED report strong labor savings from automating placement. PEEL doubles those savings by automating the other manual labor step. Together, FEED + PEEL typically pay back within 18–30 months on a production Impress — and after that, it’s pure labor-cost reduction.

⚠️ Art Layout Requirement — 40mm Minimum Edge Clearance

Per ROQ’s official spec, reliable automatic film removal requires a minimum 40mm (roughly 1.5″) distance between the edge of your printed image and the edge of the transfer sheet. This is how PEEL reliably grabs the film edge without catching the image. It’s a straightforward art-layout rule — we mention it upfront so your graphic designer can build that buffer into transfer sheet layouts before you order.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need the ROQ Impress and FEED to use PEEL?
You need the ROQ Impress — PEEL is a dedicated add-on module for the Impress and can’t run standalone. FEED is optional but strongly recommended. PEEL + Impress alone still delivers automatic peeling (big labor savings). Adding FEED to that combo creates the full 1-operator automated line where placement and peeling are both automated.
Can I add PEEL to an Impress I already own?
Yes — PEEL is designed as a retrofit add-on. If you already have an Impress running, PEEL can be added later. The single-connection integration keeps installation straightforward; we coordinate with your production schedule to minimize downtime.
What’s the difference between FEED and PEEL?
FEED automates transfer PLACEMENT (picks up transfer, positions it on the garment before pressing). PEEL automates FILM REMOVAL (removes the backing film after pressing). They do different things at different points in the workflow. Most shops buying both add FEED first (usually higher labor savings), then PEEL second.
Why not just peel manually? How much time does this really save?
On a production line running 300–500 transfers per hour, manual peeling is a full-time operator station. At 500 transfers/hour, that’s 8,000 peels per 16-hour day. Manual peeling is repetitive, tiring, and one of the most common sources of repetitive-strain injuries in DTF shops. PEEL eliminates that station entirely — freeing that operator for higher-value work or reducing your headcount.
What happens to the peeled backing film?
The integrated 120-liter waste bin captures all removed backing sheets automatically. Empty the bin at shift change or end of day rather than having an operator constantly disposing of film between peels. The large bin size means you’re not babysitting the machine.
Does the laser help with setup?
Yes — the laser alignment marker projects the pickup position for backing film removal, making setup visual and fast. Especially helpful when switching between transfer sizes; you can see exactly where PEEL will pick up the film instead of running test peels.
Can I adjust peel speed for different jobs?
Yes — adjustable peel speed lets you optimize the peel motion for different transfer types, sizes, and fabrics. Delicate transfers may need slower peels; standard DTF can run faster. Save speed settings per recipe for instant recall.
When did ROQ release PEEL?
October 2024. It was debuted at Printing United Expo as the final piece of ROQ’s fully-automated DTF decoration line. Relatively new product, but built on the same proven ROQ engineering that powers the entire Impress system.
Does PEEL work with screen print transfers, or just DTF?
PEEL is optimized for DTF backing film removal and heat transfer backing sheets. Check with us on your specific transfer types — we’ll confirm compatibility and peeling characteristics before you order.
What’s the ROI like?
Adding PEEL to an Impress + FEED line typically doubles the labor savings vs. FEED alone. Combined FEED + PEEL payback on a production Impress is typically 18–30 months, after which the labor savings go straight to your bottom line. For high-volume shops, payback can be meaningfully faster.
What does the warranty cover?
ROQ Solid Warranty — parts, labor, and technician travel. Same premium coverage as every ROQ press and accessory. Coverage periods vary by component; we send the current warranty PDF with every quote.
What’s the install like?
PEEL bolts onto an existing Impress and integrates via the single-connection interface. Typical onsite install: half a day to a day, including operator training. We coordinate install timing with your production schedule.
