Part of the Matsui Alpha Series — blendable with other Alpha colors for custom tones. No software required. Prints through mesh up to 230/inch.
Price range: $24.99 through $1,749.99
Description
One White. Two Modes. Light Shirts or Dark Shirts.
Matsui Alpha Trans White is for shops that print on both light and dark garments and want one white ink. No activator on light cotton — just print and cure. Add Printers Choice Discharge Activator at 3–8% for dark 100% cotton and it switches to discharge mode. One product. Two complete workflows.
Mode 1 (Water-Based): Print on light and medium cotton — no activator needed. Mode 2 (Discharge): Add Printers Choice Discharge Activator at 3–8% and print on dark 100% cotton for a soft, embedded discharge white.
No base mixing, no CMS software, no pigment calculations. Open, pour, and print. Part of the Alpha Series system that blends directly using Pantone book ratios.
Mix Alpha Trans White with any other Matsui Alpha Series ready-for-use ink for custom off-white tones — warm whites, cream tones, color-tinted pastels. No software needed.
Prints through mesh up to 230/inch — suitable for both solid spot white work and moderately detailed designs in both WB and discharge modes.
In discharge mode, the white embeds inside the cotton fiber — zero surface buildup. In WB mode on light shirts, the same soft, breathable feel applies.
PVC-free, CPSIA and HR4040 compliant. Part of Matsui’s eco-responsible Alpha Series.
Complete Discharge System — Everything You Need
Alpha Trans White: Two Modes Explained
On light and medium-colored cotton garments, use Alpha Trans White straight from the container with no activator. Prints as a standard high-quality water-based white, cures at 320°F. Perfect for ash, light grey, cream, or any light-colored shirt.
On dark 100% cotton, add Printers Choice Discharge Activator at 3–8% by weight. Dissolve activator in warm water first for even dispersion. The activated ink discharges garment dye during curing and produces a soft, embedded discharge white. 12-hour pot life once activated.
Alpha Trans White is part of the Matsui Alpha Series — a complete ready-for-use system. Blend with any Alpha Series color using your Pantone Formula Guide for custom off-white tones. No software, no base calculations.
Best Use Cases
Print the same white design on both light and dark shirts in the same job. One ink handles both — add or omit activator to switch modes.
Eliminate separate WB white and discharge white inventories. Alpha Trans White covers both applications from one container.
In discharge mode, the white embeds into the cotton fiber — producing a print that feels like part of the shirt. Significantly softer than plastisol or standard WB white on a blocker underbase.
Blend Alpha Trans White with Alpha Series colors using your Pantone Formula Guide for warm whites, cream tones, or color-tinted light shades — great for fashion and boutique apparel.

Pro Tips & Critical Notes
Alpha Trans White does NOT need activator for water-based mode on light cotton. Only add activator when printing discharge mode on dark 100% cotton.
When used in discharge mode, only reactive dyes in cotton fibers are removed. Poly threads retain their color. On blends, expect a distressed/vintage effect.
For WB mode only, standard photopolymer emulsion is fine. For discharge mode, upgrade to Chromaline Hydro-X, CP-Tex, or Murakami T9 with MS Hardener.
Discharge results vary by garment brand and dye lot. Always test before production. Discharge-friendly brands: Gildan 64000, Comfort Colors 1717, Bella+Canvas 3001.
Once Printers Choice Discharge Activator is mixed in, use within 12 hours. Only activate what you’ll use in a single shift. Never return activated ink to the original container.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Do I need activator on light shirts?
No. On light and medium-colored cotton, Alpha Trans White prints as standard water-based — no activator needed. Just print and cure at 320°F. Only add Printers Choice Discharge Activator for discharge mode on dark 100% cotton.
How do I switch between modes?
Water-based: use straight from container, no activator. Discharge: add Printers Choice Discharge Activator at 3–8%, mix thoroughly (dissolve in warm water first), and use within 12 hours.
Can I blend with other Alpha Series inks?
Yes. Alpha Trans White blends with all Matsui Alpha Series inks. Use your Pantone Formula Guide for custom off-white tones. No CMS software needed.
What mesh count should I use?
Alpha Trans White prints through 230 mesh. For maximum white opacity on dark shirts in discharge mode, use 86–130 mesh. For finer detail, go up to 160–230 mesh. Saati Hydro thin-thread mesh gives the best discharge flow.
How does Alpha Trans White compare to Brite Discharge White?
Alpha Trans White is a dual-mode hybrid — WB on light garments, discharge on dark. Brite Discharge White is discharge-only with maximum opacity at lower mesh. If you only print dark shirts and need the boldest white, Brite wins on opacity. If you print both light and dark, Alpha Trans White simplifies your system.
