Description

The Professional Film Positive Printer for Screen Printing Shops

The Epson SureColor T3170X brings together PrecisionCore MicroTFP print technology, a chip-free T49H refillable ink tank system, and 24″ roll-fed wide-format capability in a compact package built for screen printing prepress. Pair it with Chromaline AccuInk, AccuJet waterproof film, and CADlink FilmMaker RIP to build a complete production-grade film output system that delivers deep blacks, tight halftones, and consistent registration on every print. This listing is the printer only. The Chromaline T3170X Complete Package → includes the printer, AccuInk, AccuJet film, FilmMaker RIP, and 6 months of free CADlink support in one order.

📷 PrecisionCore MicroTFP Printhead
2400 × 1200 dpi max resolution with 4 picoliter minimum drop size and Variable Droplet Technology. Produces up to 3 different drop sizes per scan line — critical for fine halftone gradients and detail work on high-mesh screens.
⌨️ Chip-Free T49H Ink Tank System
The T3170X is the first large-format Epson to use the EcoTank-style refillable ink pack philosophy — 140 mL bottles fill directly into the tanks with no chip authentication. With Chromaline AccuInk, you get UV-blocking output and dramatically lower ongoing ink cost vs. cartridge systems.
🎭 24″ Roll-Fed Output
Roll-fed operation with AccuJet 24″ × 100’ waterproof film rolls eliminates manual sheet loading, drops cost-per-print on high-volume runs, and provides a consistent registration reference across every frame — critical for multi-color spot jobs.
💻 CADlink FilmMaker RIP Required
CADlink FilmMaker RIP drives the T3170X natively — enabling 150+ LPI halftones with Jitter™ moiré suppression, InRIP color separations, Variable Dot Halftoning, and one-click film output. Standard printer drivers cannot achieve film-positive density levels.
📡 Wi-Fi + Ethernet + USB
Flexible connectivity for any shop layout — connect directly via USB, over your network via Ethernet, or wirelessly via Wi-Fi. The FilmMaker RIP runs on a Windows PC and drives the printer from any network-accessible workstation.
🎉 Single-Channel or All-Black Setup
Configure for single-channel black (standard spot and basic halftone work) or load AccuInk into all four channels and fire simultaneously for maximum UV-blocking density on fine halftones and high-mesh screens (230+ mesh).

Building a Complete T3170X Film Positive System

Step 1
UV-blocking dye ink engineered for the T3170X’s MicroTFP printhead. Chip-free 140 mL bottles fill directly into the ink tanks. Produces denser blacks than OEM ink for faster washout and sharper stencil edges.
Step 2
24″ × 100’ waterproof inkjet film rolls with an ink-receptive coating formulated for AccuInk. Continuous roll feed eliminates sheet waste, lowers cost-per-print, and maintains consistent registration across long runs.
Step 3
The industry-standard RIP for inkjet film output. Pre-configured Chromaline Edition profiles for the T3170X system. One-click halftones, InRIP separations, 150+ LPI with Jitter™ moiré elimination. Windows OS required.
🎁 Want Everything in One Order?

⚠️ Printer Only — Ink and RIP Not Included
This listing is for the Epson T3170X printer only. A complete film positive system also requires Chromaline AccuInk, AccuJet film, and CADlink FilmMaker RIP. Do not use OEM Epson T49H ink for film positives — it lacks the UV-blocking agent that AccuInk provides.
⚠️ Drop Ships from Epson — No Returns
The T3170X ships directly from Epson. Lead time is determined by Epson’s order queue. All sales are final. Call (512) 454-0505 before ordering to confirm current lead time and verify this printer is the right fit for your setup.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Frequently Asked Questions

What is included in the Chromaline Epson T3170X Printer Package?
The package includes the Epson SureColor T3170X 24″ roll-fed inkjet printer, FilmMaker v10 DTP+ Chromaline Edition RIP software, 4 × 140 mL Chromaline AccuInk Black T49H chip-free bottles (Made in USA), 2 × 24″ × 100′ rolls of Chromaline AccuJet waterproof inkjet film (Made in USA), and 6 months of free live technical support from CADlink’s North America-based team.
Why use AccuInk instead of Epson OEM ink for screen printing film output?
Epson OEM inks are formulated for color accuracy on photographic substrates — not for blocking UV light during screen exposure. Chromaline AccuInk is specifically engineered with UV-blocking technology to produce the densest possible black on inkjet film. Deeper density means faster emulsion hardening, sharper stencil edges after washout, and halftone dots that hold under printing pressure.
Can I use this system on a Mac?
The Epson T3170X printer is macOS-compatible, but FilmMaker v10 DTP+ RIP software must be installed on a Windows PC. The printer can be networked to a Mac so a designer or prepress operator can send files to the Windows RIP machine. A dedicated Windows computer (Win 7 SP1, 8, 10, or 11) is required for the RIP installation.
What print resolution does the T3170X produce for film positives?
The T3170X has a maximum resolution of 2400 × 1200 dpi with a minimum ink droplet size of 4 picoliters. Variable Droplet Technology allows the printhead to produce up to three different drop sizes per scan line — critical for fine halftone gradients. When driven by FilmMaker’s Variable Dot Halftoning and Jitter™ algorithm, this hardware enables halftone screens exceeding 150 LPI with moiré suppression.
What is the difference between single-channel and all-black ink configuration?
A single-channel setup runs AccuInk black only through the designated black position — suitable for most standard spot color and basic halftone work. An all-channel black setup loads AccuInk black into all four ink positions and fires multiple channels simultaneously, increasing total UV-blocking ink deposition per pass. Preferred for fine halftones, high-mesh screens (230+ mesh count), and exposure units with longer exposure times.
Does FilmMaker v10 work with Photoshop, Illustrator, or CorelDRAW?
Yes. FilmMaker v10 accepts print jobs from Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, CorelDRAW, and any Windows-compatible design application via the Windows print spooler. FilmMaker also supports InRIP separations, meaning spot and process color separations can be generated directly inside the RIP without a separate plugin.
How long does it take to receive the Chromaline T3170X Package?
The Epson T3170X printer is a non-stock item that drop ships directly from Epson. Lead time is determined by Epson’s current order queue and ship sequence, which is outside River City Supply’s control. The Chromaline consumables (AccuInk and AccuJet film) and FilmMaker software may ship separately. Contact us before ordering if you need an estimated ship date.
Is the Epson T3170X warranty handled by River City Supply?
No. The T3170X carries a standard 1-year Epson manufacturer’s warranty. All warranty service, claims, and support are handled directly through Epson America’s customer care team, not through River City Supply. Epson’s warranty includes phone support Monday through Friday and/or whole unit exchange at Epson’s discretion.
What technical support is included and how long does it last?
Every Chromaline T3170X package includes 6 months of free live technical support from CADlink’s North America-based team, covering FilmMaker v10 setup, density calibration, halftone configuration, and general workflow questions. After the initial 6-month period, ongoing FilmMaker support from CADlink is available for an additional cost.
Can this system produce film for simulated process and photorealistic halftone separations?
Yes. FilmMaker v10’s InRIP separation engine, Variable Dot Halftoning, and Jitter™ moiré suppression make the system fully capable of high-quality halftone film for simulated process, CMYK process, and specialty separation workflows. The system supports fine halftone angles, multiple dot shapes (round, elliptical, square, diamond), and output above 150 LPI — suitable for photorealistic and gradient-heavy designs on properly tensioned high-mesh screens.
Is this a good setup for a new screen printing shop just getting started?
Yes — the Chromaline T3170X package is one of the best film output solutions for both new shops and established operations upgrading from laser film or low-quality inkjet setups. FilmMaker’s Setup Wizard walks new users through printer configuration and ink density calibration step by step, and the 6-month free support from CADlink provides a safety net during initial setup.
How do I order replacement AccuInk and AccuJet film after my initial supply runs out?
Chromaline AccuInk T49H Black (140 mL) and AccuJet Waterproof Inkjet Film (24″ × 100′ rolls) are available individually from River City Supply. Call us at (512) 454-0505 or email [email protected]. Orders placed before 3:30 PM CT Monday–Friday ship same day. Free shipping on orders over $200.
Where are AccuInk and AccuJet film manufactured?
Both Chromaline AccuInk and AccuJet inkjet film are manufactured in the United States. Chromaline has been formulating and manufacturing screen printing consumables domestically for over 60 years. USA-made production delivers batch-to-batch consistency, faster restocking availability, and supply chain reliability.
