Description

The Epson P400 Roll Film — 2″ Core for Correct Fit and Registration

The Epson SureColor P400 is one of the most popular compact wide-format inkjets used in small screen printing shops for 13-inch film output. It accepts roll media — but only on a 2″ core. Load a 3″-core roll and it won’t seat correctly on the P400’s spindle, causing lateral play, feed wander, and registration problems. The AccuJet 13×75 roll is wound on a true 2″ core, which seats flush in the P400 roll feeder and keeps film tracking straight from the first print to foot 75. This is the roll film built for the P400 workflow.

2″ Core — P400 Specific
The P400 roll media spindle is designed for 2″ cores. The AccuJet 13×75 seats flush, eliminating the lateral play that causes feed wander and registration issues on roll output.
75 Feet of Production Output
At 75 feet, this roll handles dozens of 8–12 inch positives before a roll change is needed — keeping your workflow moving without frequent interruptions.
Lower Cost Per Positive
Roll format consistently beats sheet-film cost-per-positive at comparable widths. The 13×75 roll delivers 13-inch film output at a better per-foot rate than buying 13×19 sheets.
Dense, Waterproof Coating
Chromaline’s waterproof coating on the roll format performs identically to the sheet — DMAX up to 4.0, fast dry, humidity-resistant. Roll format doesn’t compromise film quality.
Consistent Registration Through the Roll
With the 2″ core seated correctly, the P400 feeds the AccuJet roll with consistent tension and straight tracking — keeping every positive in the same position from print to print.
Compact Roll for Small Shops
At 13 inches wide and 75 feet long, this is a manageable roll format for shops that don’t need the full 100-foot length — lower initial cost, less storage space needed.

Using the Epson P400 for Screen Printing Film Production

P400 Roll Setup
The P400 accepts roll media using Epson’s optional roll media attachment. Once installed, the 2″-core AccuJet roll loads onto the spindle, and the printer feeds film automatically. Set media type to ‘plain paper’ or ‘premium photo paper’ and print mode to highest quality for best density.
Output Width and Design Coverage
At 13 inches wide, the P400 handles full adult front chest graphics and most standard separation layouts. The 75-foot roll gives you enough output for significant production runs before needing a roll change.
RIP for Better Output
The Epson P400 paired with CADlink FilmMaker or a similar RIP unlocks better ink limit control and linearization for AccuJet film — producing higher DMAX than the default driver and tighter halftone dots for separation work.

Compatible Printers for inkjet film roll epson p400

Epson SureColor P400
The primary printer for this roll format. The P400’s 2″-core roll feeder accepts the AccuJet 13×75 directly. Compact footprint, 13-inch maximum width, works with both dye and pigment inks.
Epson SureColor P600 (with Roll Adapter)
The P600 also accepts 13-inch roll media via roll attachment with a 2″ core. Higher-end hardware with pigment inks and better density output than the P400 — worth considering if you’re buying new hardware.
Epson SureColor P700 (with Roll Adapter)
The current-generation replacement for the P600 also handles 13-inch roll output on 2″ cores via optional roll attachment.

Who Uses inkjet film roll epson p400

Epson P400 Roll Production Users
This is the correct film format for P400 roll output. If you’re running the P400 with its roll attachment, this film is matched to your setup.
Small Shops Transitioning From Sheets
Shops currently printing 13×19 sheets who want to reduce per-positive cost can switch to the 13×75 roll for the same width at lower film cost.
Compact Shop Setups
The P400 with 13×75 AccuJet roll is a compact, capable film output station that doesn’t require a large printer footprint or expensive hardware.
🔲 Mesh Count Range
AccuJet film is compatible with mesh counts from 34 to 355 mesh. Use lower mesh counts (34–86) for heavy specialty inks and high-coverage work; mid-range (110–160) for standard plastisol production; high mesh (200–355) for fine halftones, process printing, and water-based or discharge applications.
⏱ Exposure Time
Exposure time varies based on your emulsion type, coating thickness, mesh count, and light source. Always run a step-wedge test with your specific emulsion setup. Check your emulsion’s spec sheet → for manufacturer starting points.

Roll Footage Calculator

Estimated number of prints from a 13″ × 75′ roll based on print height. Add ~½″ gap between prints for cut lines.

Print Height Estimated Prints Total Output
6″ ~150 prints 13.5 sq ft of output
8″ ~112 prints 10.1 sq ft of output
10″ ~90 prints 8.1 sq ft of output
12″ ~75 prints 6.8 sq ft of output
14″ ~64 prints 5.8 sq ft of output
18″ ~50 prints 4.5 sq ft of output

Estimates are approximate. Actual yield depends on print height, inter-print gap, and any wasted leader footage at roll start/end.

Complete Your Film System

AccuJet film performs best as part of a complete system: the right ink formulated for film output, RIP software that maximizes density, and the right emulsion for your press work. River City Supply carries everything.

🖨️
CADlink FilmMaker RIP Software
We recommend using CADlink FilmMaker with every AccuJet film setup. FilmMaker controls ink limits, linearization, and channel output to push AccuJet to its maximum DMAX — producing denser, more accurate positives than any standard driver. It also eliminates the color management guesswork that causes under-inked or over-inked film.

⚠ Roll Attachment Required: The Epson P400 requires the optional roll media attachment (Epson part C12C811201 or equivalent) to use roll media. Confirm you have this accessory before ordering roll film.
⚠ Core Size Critical: The 2″ core is specifically required for the P400. Do not attempt to use a 3″-core roll — it will not seat correctly and will cause feeding and registration problems.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Frequently Asked Questions

Is this the right film for the Epson P400?
Yes. The AccuJet 13×75 roll is wound on a 2″ core, which is the correct core size for the Epson SureColor P400’s roll media feeder. The 2″ core seats flush in the P400 spindle, providing proper tension and straight tracking.
Does the P400 require a special roll attachment?
Yes. The Epson P400 requires the optional roll media attachment to use roll format film. Confirm you have this accessory installed before loading the AccuJet roll. Contact Epson or your dealer if you need the roll attachment.
Why is this roll 75 feet instead of 100 feet?
The 13×75 roll is sized to match the P400’s roll media capacity and provide a practical roll length for the compact printer format. For shops wanting 100 feet on the same 2″ core, the 13×100 2″ roll is available.
How many prints can I get from a 75-foot roll?
At 10 inches per print (a common front chest positive size), a 75-foot roll yields approximately 90 prints. At 12 inches, approximately 75 prints. Actual yield varies by your specific design dimensions.
Can I use AccuJet roll film with the P400’s dye-based inks?
Yes. AccuJet is compatible with both dye-based and pigment-based inks. The P400 uses Epson’s Claria Photo HD dye inks, which produce good density on AccuJet film — especially when using a RIP with proper ink limits.
Does River City Supply ship same day?
Yes. Orders placed before 3:30 PM CT Monday–Friday ship same day. Free shipping on orders over $200.
