What Mimaki printers use SB54?

SB54 is confirmed for: JV33, JV34, JV150, JV300, CJV series (sublimation config), TS3-1600, TS5-1600AMF, TS30-1300, and TS34-1800A. SB54 is Mimaki’s current-generation sublimation cartridge, superseding SB53 on most models.

How is SB54 different from SB53?

SB54 is the newer generation with improved color density. Many printers support both SB53 and SB54, but some newer models (JV150, JV300) support only SB54. Check your printer’s confirmed ink type. They are not interchangeable without confirming compatibility.

Is this the same ink as the SB54 2L bag?

Same ink chemistry, different volume format. The 440ml cartridge is a drop-in for the standard Mimaki cartridge slot. The 2-liter bag requires Mimaki’s MBIS (Mimaki Bulk Ink System). Confirm your printer supports MBIS before ordering the 2L bag.

What substrates work with dye sublimation ink?

Dye sublimation ink bonds only to polyester fibers and polyester-coated hard substrates (aluminum, glass, ceramic, acrylic, coated plastics). It will not transfer to cotton, wool, or uncoated natural fibers. For best results on hard substrates, use polyester-coated products specifically designed for sublimation.

What temperature and pressure do I use to transfer sublimation prints?

Standard sublimation transfer settings: 380–400°F (193–204°C), 30–60 seconds, medium pressure. Exact settings vary by substrate. Always test with your specific substrate, paper, and heat press before production. Under-pressing results in faded colors; over-pressing can cause bleeding.

Can I return dye sublimation ink?

Do I need to flush lines before switching to STS sublimation ink?
