Description

AlbaChem® · Item #1783 · 13 oz Aerosol · Shop All Spray Adhesives

The Web Adhesive Built for Fleece, Hoodies & Heavy Garments

When mist adhesives fail to grip the deep pile of fleece or the looped texture of a hoodie lining, you need a web adhesive. AlbaChem® 1783 Premium Web Adhesive lays down a fibrous web pattern that interlocks with textured fabric surfaces, delivering a strong, durable tack that holds throughout the entire print run without transferring residue onto garments. Fully CARB/VOC compliant — all 50 states including California.

What’s Included

1AlbaChem® 1783 Premium Web Adhesive — 13 oz aerosol can (368.5 g)
Available individually or by the case — 12 cans per case
Pairs with Printers Choice Pallet Tape for optimal platen prep and easy cleanup

Key Performance Features

Web Pattern for Textured Fabrics

The fibrous web spray was engineered for fleece, terry cloth, French terry, and other pile fabrics where standard mist adhesives absorb into the pile without adequate surface contact. The web interlocks mechanically with the fabric texture for a reliable hold mist adhesives cannot match.

Less Overspray Than Mist

The web format concentrates adhesive in a tight, structured pattern with significantly less ambient drift than fine or coarse mist sprays. Less waste, less buildup on surrounding equipment, and a cleaner shop environment.

Long-Lasting Tack

Dries quickly to a durable tack that requires less frequent reapplication. Fewer stops during a run means higher throughput — especially valuable on high-volume hoodie and sweatshirt jobs.

Will Not Transfer

The formula dries to a non-transferable tack. Garments come off the platen clean — no sticky residue on the fabric, no customer complaints about tacky hoodie interiors.

VOC Compliant All 50 States

At under 55% VOC by weight, the 1783 meets CARB standards and is compliant in all U.S. states including California. Unlike the 1786 and 1787, no separate CA-specific version is required.

Clean Chemistry

Contains no chlorinated solvents and no vinyl acetate. Stable and non-reactive under normal storage conditions. HMIS Health 2, Physical 3, Reactivity 0.

Safety & Ventilation

PPE — HMIS Cat. B

Chemical-resistant gloves and safety glasses during application. Avoid prolonged skin contact.

Ventilation

Use in a well-ventilated area. Maintain shop exhaust airflow during and after spraying.

Flammability

Level 3 aerosol flammability. Keep away from all open flames, sparks, and heat sources. Do not puncture or incinerate.

VOC / CA

Under 55% VOC — CARB compliant all 50 states. No CA-specific version needed.

Step Zero: Apply Pallet Tape Before You Spray

Cover the clean platen with pallet tape before spraying the 1783. Spray the web adhesive onto the tape surface rather than bare platen. End-of-job cleanup is just peeling off the tape — no solvents, no scrubbing, no downtime.

Cleanup: Peel tape. Done.

Web vs. Mist — Why It Matters for Fleece

The Fleece Problem

Fleece and French terry have a looped pile that absorbs fine mist adhesive without creating enough surface contact for a reliable grip. Shirts shift during printing, causing misregistration and wasted garments.

How Web Adhesive Solves It

The web pattern lays down fibrous strands that physically interlock with the fabric pile rather than sitting on top. This creates a mechanical bond that holds through every squeegee pass.

When to Use Web vs. Mist

Use the 1783 for fleece, hoodies, and textured fabrics. For smooth T-shirts, the 1787 Mist or 1786 Flash will serve you better.

Application Guide

Step 1 — Tape the Platen

Apply pallet tape to clean, dry platen. Smooth out all bubbles.

Step 2 — Shake the Can

Shake well before each use to ensure even distribution of the web adhesive and propellant.

Step 3 — Spray the Web

Hold can 6–8 inches from the platen. Apply a light, even coat using a smooth sweeping motion. Avoid concentrating in one spot.

Step 4 — Allow to Dry

Allow the web to dry briefly before placing the first garment. Dry tack grips deeper into pile than wet tack.

Step 5 — Load & Print

Place garment and press lightly. Reapply when tack noticeably fades.

Step 6 — Cleanup

Peel pallet tape for zero-solvent cleanup. Invert can and spray until clear air flows to prevent nozzle clogging.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Frequently Asked Questions — AlbaChem® 1783 Premium Web Adhesive

What is the 1783 Premium Web Adhesive used for?

The 1783 is a web-pattern pallet adhesive designed for printing on fleece, hoodies, sweatshirts, and other textured or pile fabrics. Its web spray pattern grips deep-pile surfaces where standard mist adhesives fail. It also works for general screen printing pallet use. See all spray adhesives →

Why does fleece need a web adhesive instead of mist?

Fleece and pile fabrics absorb fine mist adhesive without enough surface contact for reliable grip. The web pattern lays down fibrous strands that physically interlock with the fabric pile, creating a mechanical bond that holds through every squeegee pass without garments shifting.

Is the 1783 compliant for California?

Yes — the 1783 is fully CARB/VOC compliant and can be sold and used in all 50 U.S. states including California. At under 55% VOC by weight, no separate CA version is required. This distinguishes it from the 1786 and 1787.

Will it leave residue on fleece or hoodie garments?

No. The 1783 will not transfer adhesive residue onto garment fabric. Hoodies and fleece items come off the platen clean with no sticky interiors.

Should I use pallet tape with the 1783?

Yes — the recommended workflow is to apply Printers Choice Pallet Tape first, then spray the 1783 onto the tape surface. End-of-job cleanup is simply peeling the tape with no solvents or scrubbing required.

How far should I hold the can from the platen?

Hold the can 6 to 8 inches from the platen and sweep evenly. Apply a light, even coat — avoid concentrating in one spot, which can cause buildup.

How does the 1783 compare to the 1787 and 1786?

The 1783 web adhesive is the right choice for fleece and heavy/textured garments. The 1787 Mist is better for standard T-shirts with its super-strong coarse-mist tack. The 1786 Flash is the choice for multi-color jobs with flash cure stations.

Does it contain chlorinated solvents?

No. The 1783 contains no chlorinated solvents and no vinyl acetate. HMIS Health rating is 2 (Moderate). Gloves and eye protection are required during use.

What other web adhesives does River City Supply carry?

RCS also carries the AlbaChem 1175 DRI-WEB — a quick-dry web adhesive for heavy textured garments — and the CCI Top Bond Web for multi-substrate bonding applications.

How do I prevent the nozzle from clogging?

After each use, invert the can and spray against scrap paper until only clean air flows. This clears the valve of adhesive residue and prevents clogging between sessions.
