PMI 321 Blockout Tape 3″ — Full-Width Adhesive for Total Mesh Control

Whether you’re covering pinholes, masking off registration marks, or blocking unused mesh, PMI 321 gives you a clean, reliable seal every time. Fully adhesive edge to edge — ideal where maximum coverage and a solid bond matter more than the split-zone design.

What PMI 321 Does Better

🔲

Full-Width Adhesive Coverage

The 321 is adhesive across its entire width — no non-adhesive zones. Ideal for blocking larger mesh areas, sealing pinholes completely, and covering registration marks that need a solid seal.

Hand-Tearable — No Tools Required

Tears cleanly by hand for straight, precise strips without scissors. In a busy production environment that speed adds up across dozens of screens per day.

🛡️

Pinhole & Mesh Blockout

Pinholes let ink seep through and ruin prints. PMI 321 seals directly over mesh to close those gaps, extending the usable life of screens that might otherwise be reclaimed prematurely.

🚫

Zero Residue on Removal

PMI 321 is formulated to release without leaving adhesive deposits on mesh, frames, or the print bed. No solvent, no scraping — just peel and reclaim.

🏭

Production-Line Durability

Holds firm through full automatic press runs — resists mechanical vibration and squeegee pressure. When the job’s done, it comes off in one clean pull.

📐

3″ Width Efficiency

A single strip covers most frame channel-to-mesh gaps in one pass — less taping time and fewer strips.

How to Apply PMI 321 Blockout Tape

Step 1 — Clean the Surface

Ensure mesh and frame are clean and dry. Any ink residue or moisture will reduce adhesion.

Step 2 — Tear to Length

Grip and snap-tear to length. The tear-resistant backing tears cleanly and straight.

Step 3 — Apply & Seal

Press firmly over the area — pinhole, mesh section, or frame edge. Smooth with a finger or squeegee.

Step 4 — Print & Remove

After the run, peel from a corner in one smooth pull. No solvent, no residue.

When to Use 321 vs. Split Tape

Use PMI 321 When…

You need to cover a pinhole, block a large open mesh area, tape the print side of a screen, or mask registration marks — anywhere full-width adhesion is preferred.

Use PMI 451 Split Tape When…

You’re masking the inside channel of a rigid aluminum, roller, or wood frame and want the non-adhesive blue zone against the well for fastest removal.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Frequently Asked Questions — PMI 321 Blockout Tape 3″

What is PMI 321 used for?

PMI 321 is a full-width blockout tape for sealing open mesh, covering pinholes, masking registration marks, and taping frame edges. Unlike the 451 Split Tape which has a non-adhesive blue zone, the 321 is adhesive across its entire width — better for flat surface applications needing complete coverage.

What’s the difference between PMI 321 and PMI 451 Split Tape?

The 321 is fully adhesive across the entire width. The 451 Split Tape has a non-adhesive blue zone that sits against the frame channel for easy removal. Use 321 for pinholes, print-side blockout, and open mesh masking. Use 451 Split Tape when masking the inside of a rigid frame channel.

How many rolls are in a case?

The 3″ PMI 321 Blockout Tape comes 24 rolls per case. The other width comes 36 rolls per case.

Does it work with water-based and discharge inks?

Yes. PMI 321 seals securely against all ink systems. The adhesive holds its seal even with low-viscosity water-based and discharge inks that are more prone to seeping under inadequate blockout.

Will PMI 321 damage my emulsion?

No. PMI 321 is emulsion safe. The adhesive releases cleanly from mesh without lifting the stencil.

Can it be used to tape the print side of a screen?

Yes. PMI 321 is well-suited for print-side application as a blockout tape.
