Description

Sublimation Heat Tape (Printers Choice)

A single shift of the transfer paper during pressing can ruin an entire blank. Sublimation Heat Tape anchors your print exactly where you placed it, so every mug, tumbler, shirt, and hard panel comes out sharp, aligned, and ghost-free. Blue-tinted for easy alignment, heat-resistant for the press, and residue-free on removal – it is the cheapest insurance in your shop against wasted blanks.

Stops Ghosting
Holds the transfer dead-still so heated dye cannot blur or double-image.
No Residue, No Yellowing
Peels clean off blanks and platens – it will not leave sticky marks or yellow stains on white substrates.
Blue-Tinted Visibility
Easy to see against white paper so you can check alignment – and never miss a piece before it ships.
Built for the Press
Heat-resistant adhesive takes normal sublimation temperatures without melting or gumming up.

What Sublimation Heat Tape Is Used For

One roll covers just about every heat-press job in the shop:

Sublimation Transfers
Tape Sawgrass and other sublimation prints to shirts, mugs, tumblers, tiles, coasters, ornaments, and hard panels.
Tumblers & Mugs
Wrap and hold the print tight around curved and cylindrical blanks, or secure shrink sleeves before the oven or press.
Large Prints
Tape all four edges plus a center strip on big designs so nothing lifts or slides under the platen.
Garment Sublimation
Fasten the paper to polyester shirts and bags before they go on the press to keep registration perfect.
HTV, DTF & Screen-Print Transfers
Hold heat-transfer vinyl, DTF, and pre-made transfers in position for a clean, aligned press.
High-Heat Masking
Mask off areas you do not want pressed, or hold parts steady anywhere you need a clean, heat-safe hold.

Why You Need It

If you press transfers, heat tape is not optional – it is the difference between a sellable product and a scrapped one:

Wasted blanks add up
A ghosted mug or shirt is a total loss – the dye is permanent. Tape costs pennies per press and saves the whole blank.
Regular tape fails
Painter’s and masking tape get tacky under heat, leave residue, and can yellow white blanks. Heat tape holds clean and releases clean.
Alignment stays put
Even a millimeter of shift shows up as blur. Taping locks your registration from platen-close to peel.
It protects your gear
A heat-rated adhesive will not melt onto your platen or transfer glue to your press.

How to Use It

1Print and trim your sublimation transfer, then position it exactly where you want it on the blank.
2Tear a strip of tape and secure the paper – tape all four edges, adding a center strip on any print larger than about 8 inches.
3For mugs and tumblers, wrap the tape snug around the blank so the paper stays flush to the curved surface.
4Press per your substrate’s time, temperature, and pressure. The tape holds the print dead-still through the whole cycle.
5Let it cool per your process, peel the tape away clean, and discard it – heat tape is single-use for best results.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What does sublimation heat tape do?
It holds your transfer paper tightly in place on the blank during pressing so it cannot shift. That shifting is what causes ghosting – a blurry, shadowed double-image – so taping is the simplest way to get clean, sharp transfers every time.
Can I just use regular tape or painter’s tape?
Not recommended. Household and painter’s tapes get tacky under heat, can leave sticky residue, and may yellow white blanks. Heat tape is made for the press: it holds firm at pressing temperatures and peels away clean.
Will it leave residue on my blanks?
No. When used as directed it releases cleanly with no sticky residue and no marks on your substrate or your platen.
Does the blue color transfer onto my product?
No. The blue tint is just so you can see the tape for alignment and make sure you remove every piece. It does not transfer to the substrate.
Can I reuse a piece of tape?
It is best used once. The heat from pressing changes the adhesive, so a fresh piece each time gives you the most reliable hold and the cleanest removal.
How much tape should I use?
Tape all four edges of the transfer. For prints larger than about 8 inches, add a strip across the center of each side too. For mugs and tumblers, wrap it snug so the paper stays flush to the curve.
What can I use it on besides sublimation?
It also works for holding HTV, DTF, and pre-made heat transfers in place, and for high-heat masking. Anywhere you need a clean, heat-safe hold, this tape works.
