What is the Sawgrass VersiFlex system?
It’s a 2-in-1 hybrid decorating system built around the Sawgrass SG1000 printer. Using VersiFlex inks and self-weeding papers, it prints full-color transfers onto cotton and light/natural fabrics — and still does traditional sublimation on polyester and coated hard goods.
Can it really print on cotton?
Yes. That’s the breakthrough: VersiFlex transfers full-color designs onto white and light-colored cotton, blends, nylon and suede with no DTF powder, no DTG machine, and no pre-treatment.
What does “self-weeding” mean?
Only your printed design transfers to the product during pressing — the excess paper/film around it stays behind. There’s no cutting, weeding, or trimming, which speeds up production and keeps results clean.
Does it still do regular sublimation?
Yes. The same SG1000 and VersiFlex inks handle traditional sublimation on polyester apparel, mugs, tumblers, slate, wood and other poly-coated hard goods.
What can I decorate?
White/light cotton, blends, nylon and suede; polyester apparel; and hard goods like mugs, tumblers, ceramics, slate and uncoated wood — from one compact workstation.
What papers does it use?
Three: VersiFlex Light for natural/uncoated products like fabric and wood, regular sublimation paper for durable poly-coated products, and sublimation HTV for applying designs to dark fabrics or smooth surfaces.
What’s the difference between the Standard and Extended ink sets?
Both include Cyan, Magenta, Yellow and the Expander cartridge. Standard ships with 31ml cartridges; Extended ships with larger 70ml cartridges for higher-volume printing and a lower cost per print. Not sure which fits your volume? Give us a call.
How durable are cotton transfers?
VersiFlex Light transfers are soft and lightweight with good washability — rated to 30+ washes when applied correctly.
What size can it print?
Up to 11″ × 17″ standard, and up to 13″ × 19″ with the optional bypass tray.
Do I need a heat press?
Yes — a quality heat press is required to apply the transfers and to sublimate hard goods. We can help you pick the right press for your products.
