Description
Silicone-Like Surface Without Silicone Inks — Final Coat.
Matsui Soft-Tex Overprint 680 is the last screen in the print sequence. After all your ink colors are printed and cured, print Overprint 680 over the finished design for a silicone-like surface finish that adds an exceptionally soft, smooth hand feel to any water-based or discharge print.
Soft-Tex Overprint 680 is a top-coating binder applied as the FINAL step after all other ink layers are printed and cured. It is not a color ink — it is a finish coat that changes the surface quality of the print.
Creates a silicone-like printing surface feel over the finished print area — soft, smooth, and with the premium tactile quality that silicone ink systems produce — without requiring the specialized equipment and ink systems that true silicone printing demands.
Print through 135 mesh (53/cm) for an even, consistent overprint layer. The 135 mesh deposits enough overprint material to create the silicone-like surface without an excessive buildup.
Slightly longer cure time than most Matsui inks — 3 minutes at 320F (160C). This longer cure ensures the overprint fully crosslinks and bonds to the underlying ink layers.
Specifically formulated without formalin, organotin compounds, and endocrine-disrupting substances — meeting the strictest chemical compliance requirements for premium apparel and brands with aggressive RSL programs.
Garments decorated with Soft-Tex Overprint 680 can be safely dry cleaned or ironed without compromising the silicone-like surface finish.
Best Use Cases
Apply Overprint 680 over finished WB or discharge prints that need a higher-end, silicone-like surface feel — for premium apparel clients that specify a silicone printing aesthetic without the cost of a full silicone ink system.
A final soft-surface overprint on athletic and performance garment printing where a smooth, non-tacky, silicone-like surface feel is specified.
Formalin-free and organotin-free formulation for brands with aggressive restricted substance lists that include these compounds.
Pro Tips & Critical Notes
Overprint 680 is always the final print. All other ink colors must be printed and cured before applying the overprint. Do not print other inks over Overprint 680.
The 3-minute cure time is longer than standard Matsui inks. Ensure your conveyor dryer dwell time is appropriate for full cure of the overprint layer.
Before production, test Overprint 680 adhesion to your specific Matsui ink system and garment combination. The overprint bonds to cured WB ink — ensure full cure of the base inks before overprinting.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
What is Matsui Soft-Tex Overprint 680?
Soft-Tex Overprint 680 is a clear top-coating binder printed as the final station over your existing water-based print to create a smooth silicone-like surface and softer hand feel.
Is Overprint 680 a mixing base?
No. It is not a mixing base and should not be mixed with pigments. It is printed over finished color layers as a top coat.
Can I print it over Matsui acrylic and polyurethane systems?
Yes. It works over Matsui acrylic bases, polyurethane 350 Series products, Matsui whites, and prints made with Matsui pigment systems underneath.
What mesh should I use for Overprint 680?
The recommended mesh is 135/inch.
How do I cure Soft-Tex Overprint 680?
Cure at 320°F (160°C) for 3 minutes.
Can I use it on cotton prints?
Yes. One of its best use cases is adding silicone-like feel to cotton prints made with bases like 301C Clear or 301M Matte that do not have that finish built in.
Will it change the color of the print?
No. It is a clear overprint intended to change the surface feel, not the color underneath.
Can it help reduce residual tack on the print surface?
Yes. It is designed to leave a smoother, more premium cured surface with a silicone-like feel.
What additive can I use if I need to thicken it?
Thickener B at 0.25-1% can be used if you need more viscosity.
Can garments be ironed or dry cleaned after printing?
Yes. Prints finished with Overprint 680 can be dry cleaned and ironed.
Is it PVC-free?
