CCI D-White Discharge Ink | EnviroLine® Bright White Water-Based Discharge Ink for Opaque White Prints on Dark Cotton — Highlight White, Underbase, or Custom Pastels with CCI CMS Pigments

CCI

CCI EnviroLine® D-White is an exceptionally bright, premixed white water-based discharge ink built for opaque white prints on dark 100% cotton. The white pigment is already loaded — stir in CCI D-Powder activator (3–6%) and print. Run it as a super-bright highlight and spot white, mix it with CCI CMS Pigment Concentrates for bright, high-opacity colors, or combine it with other ink systems for multiple effects. Need full-strength discharge colors instead of white? Reach for CCI D-Base — same system, same activator.

Description

CCI D-White — The Premixed White That Discharges Bright

When the job calls for bright, opaque, retail-quality white on dark cotton, D-White delivers it in a premixed, ready-to-activate package. No pigment weighing, no formula lookups — open the pail, stir in D-Powder at 3–6%, and print. The ink strips the garment dye and replaces it with an intensely bright white embedded in the cotton fibers. Zero surface buildup. The white feels like the fabric — because it is the fabric.

Why Shops Run D-White Daily

Premixed & Ready

White pigment is pre-loaded. Add D-Powder activator and go — no base-and-pigment guesswork.

Into the Fabric

Discharge chemistry embeds the white in the cotton for an ultra-soft, barely-there hand feel.

Three Jobs, One Pail

Super-bright highlight white, bright opaque colors when mixed with CCI CMS Pigments, or layered with other ink systems.

Dials In With Mesh

CCI-recommended 110–230 mesh — lower for maximum opacity on dark garments, higher for fine detail and a softer finish.

Extended Screen Life

Slower drying in the screen than many discharge whites — built for longer production runs.

Cleaner Formulation

PVC-free, phthalate-free, low odor, and CPSIA-compliant — part of the CCI EnviroLine® water-based system.

What You Get & What You Need

CCI D-White premixed discharge white — available in Quart, Gallon, 5 Gallon, and 55 Gallon.
Required: CCI D-Powder Discharge Activator, mixed in at 3–6% by weight (sold separately). This drives the discharge reaction.
Optional: CCI CMS Pigment Concentrates to tint D-White into custom pastel discharge colors.
Optional: CCI EnviroLine® Retarder (up to 5%) and a water mist bottle for long-run open time.

How Discharge Printing Works

1. Activate

Stir D-Powder into D-White at 3–6%. You now have an 8-hour window — only activate what you’ll run.

2. Print Wet

Print wet-on-wet through 110–230 mesh with heavy squeegee pressure — no flash between hits. Don’t let it flash-dry; moisture drives the discharge.

3. Cure & Discharge

In the dryer the activator strips the garment dye and the white sets inside the fibers. Wash-test every run.

Three Ways To Print D-White

Super-Bright Highlight White

The primary use — high-opacity, extremely bright white text, logos, and fills on dark cotton with a soft hand.

Mix For Bright Colors

Add CCI CMS Pigments for extremely bright, crisp, high-opacity discharge colors — the white base keeps them reading strong on dark cotton.

Combine With Other Inks

Use in conjunction with other ink systems for multiple effects — e.g. a bright base under CCI W-Base colors for vivid overprints on dark cotton.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

CCI D-White — Frequently Asked Questions

Is D-White premixed, or do I add white pigment?
D-White is premixed — the white pigment is already loaded. Just stir in CCI D-Powder Discharge Activator at 3–6% and print. No pigment weighing or mixing required for white.
What’s the difference between D-White and D-Base?
D-White is a premixed discharge WHITE for opaque white prints and pastels. D-Base is a CLEAR discharge mixing base for custom Pantone-matched colors. Need white → D-White. Need colors → D-Base plus CMS Pigments. Most shops stock both — same activator, same system.
Can I mix custom colors with D-White?
Yes. Add CCI CMS Pigment Concentrates to D-White for extremely bright, crisp, high-opacity discharge colors on dark cotton. Because the base is white, colors read brighter and more opaque (and lighter/pastel-leaning) than the same pigment in a clear base. For full-strength, true-to-Pantone shades, use D-Base instead.
Can I use D-White as a discharge underbase?
Yes. Print activated D-White, flash, then overprint with CCI W-Base colors or other compatible inks. The discharged white gives you a bright foundation for vivid overprint colors on dark cotton.
What activator do I use, and how much?
CCI D-Powder Discharge Activator at 3–6% by weight. Mix well. Once activated you have roughly an 8-hour pot life, so only activate what you’ll run. The same D-Powder works with D-Base.
What mesh should I use?
CCI recommends 110–230 (threads/in). Lower mesh (around 110) lays a heavier deposit for maximum opacity and brightness on dark garments; higher mesh (around 230) gives finer image detail and a softer finish.
What garments work with discharge?
100% cotton dyed with dischargeable (reactive) dyes. Polyester, poly/cotton blends, and pigment-dyed goods will not discharge. Not every dye lot behaves the same — always pre-test before a production run.
How do I cure D-White?
Cure at ~320°F (160°C) minimum; ideally 2–3 minutes at 340–350°F with high-volume forced air. Don’t let the print flash-dry before curing — the more moisture present, the better the discharge. If any activator odor remains after curing, re-cure. Always wash-test.
Does D-White dry in the screen?
It has extended screen life — slower drying than many discharge whites. For the longest runs, add CCI EnviroLine® Retarder (up to 5%) and mist the screen with water during pauses.
How do I clean up?
Water for wet ink, press wash on-press, and CCI WB-1 for dried ink and haze.
Is D-White eco-friendly?
Yes — PVC-free, phthalate-free, and low odor. It’s part of the CCI EnviroLine® water-based system.
