Why Choose the Aeolus?

Edgemax™ Heat Distribution

BBC’s patented angled infrared elements deliver uniform edge-to-edge temperature. Oversized prints cure as evenly as a chest hit. See full explanation below.

Forced Air + Dual-Zone IR

Angled infrared elements + active forced-air circulation. The combination water-based and DTG production demands.

TruTrak™ Belt System

BBC’s industry-leading belt tracking that self-centers continuously. No daily adjustments, no stoppages, no belt wear. See full explanation below.

36″ or 54″ Belt Widths

Choose AIR-366C (36″) for standard production or AIR-546C (54″) for oversized prints, hoodies, and run-around graphics.

Inside the Aeolus: BBC’s Proprietary Technology

The Aeolus is named for the Greek god of wind — fitting, because it’s defined by two BBC-proprietary technologies you won’t find on any other dryer: Edgemax™ (how the heat is delivered) and TruTrak™ (how the belt runs). Here’s what each one actually does and why it matters to your prints.

BBC Proprietary Technology

Edgemax™ — True Edge-to-Edge Cure

The problem with standard IR dryers
Infrared heat elements mounted flat above the belt run hotter in the middle than at the edges — sometimes by 20-40°F. That means an oversized front print or run-around graphic cures unevenly: center fully cured, edges still tacky or undercured. Fix it by slowing the belt, and you cut throughput in half.

How Edgemax™ solves it

BBC engineered banks of infrared heat panels that sit at angles along the edge of the PTFE-coated belt — not flat overhead. Paired with BBC’s proprietary watt-density algorithm, this delivers uniform heat from belt edge to belt edge, eliminating the cold-edge problem completely.

What it means for your prints

  • A 22″ wide front print cures as evenly as a 6″ chest hit
  • Run all-over fronts, hoodie pouch graphics, and wide athletic prints without slowing the belt
  • Reduces under-cure warranty claims and reprints on wide-format work
  • Most-even cure in its class, per BBC’s independent belt-probe testing
BBC Proprietary Technology

TruTrak™ — The Never-Worry Belt

The problem with standard conveyor belts
Conveyor belts on most dryers drift sideways as they run — a little every cycle, until eventually the belt rubs the frame, frays the edge, or shifts shirts out of position. Operators stop the line to re-track the belt manually, losing minutes of production every time, and belts wear out fast from constant edge abrasion.

How TruTrak™ solves it

BBC’s TruTrak™ system uses a floating belt-tracking guide that continuously self-centers the belt as it runs. No crown-roller adjustments, no manual tension tweaks, no daily babysitting. Set it at install and forget it — the belt stays exactly where it needs to be, every minute of every shift.

What it means for your shop

  • Zero daily belt-tracking maintenance — operators focus on production, not the dryer
  • Belt life extends dramatically (no edge wear from frame contact)
  • No stoppage mid-run to re-center the belt
  • BBC’s own claim: “often imitated, never matched” — other dryer brands have tried to copy this system for decades
Why both matter together

Edgemax™ makes sure every square inch of the print gets the right amount of heat. TruTrak™ makes sure the print stays in position to receive it. Either technology on its own would be a meaningful upgrade — together they’re the reason the Aeolus has become the go-to forced-air dryer across the garment decorating industry, whether you’re running plastisol, water-based, DTG, or DTF.

Compare the 4 Aeolus Configurations

The Aeolus comes in four configurations — two belt widths (36″ or 54″) each available in 12 ft or 14 ft overall length. All four share the same Edgemax™ heat delivery, TruTrak™ belt tracking, Combo IR / Convection elements, dual-zone digital heat control, and 3-year heater warranty. The differences are belt width (print coverage), overall length (infeed/outfeed configuration), wattage, and amperage draw.

Production Throughput by Ink Type

BBC Industries publishes throughput rates per ink type for the production-grade dryers. Plastisol cures fastest (lowest dwell time). Water-based and DTG inks need longer dwell for moisture evaporation, which lowers throughput — but the Aeolus’s forced-air system makes it possible at all (most IR-only dryers can’t cure DTG digital white in one pass).

Plastisol Inks
~900/hr (36″) · ~1,350/hr (54″)
Fastest cure — minimal dwell required. Use full belt speed.
Water-Based / Discharge
~400/hr (36″) · ~540/hr (54″)
Forced air evaporates moisture — single-pass cure where IR-only dryers fail.
DTG Digital White
~180/hr (36″) · ~270/hr (54″)
Heaviest moisture load — longest dwell. Critical to use forced-air dryer.
What affects real-world throughput: print size (larger prints = fewer per belt section), ink deposit thickness (heavier deposits = more dwell), operator loading speed (the dryer can run faster than most operators can load), shop ambient temperature, and substrate fiber content. These rates assume continuous loading at 60 prints/minute belt-section throughput.

Engineering Deep-Dive

Edgemax™ vs. Standard IR

Standard IR dryers run hottest in the belt center. Edgemax™ angles the elements so a 22″ wide front print cures as evenly as a 6″ chest hit.

Forced Air Math

For DTG and water-based, every gram of moisture in the ink layer needs to evaporate. Aeolus moves enough air to do this at production belt speeds.

Customizable Conveyor Lengths

Add infeed/outfeed extensions to integrate with auto presses, folders, baggers, and label machines. Aeolus is the dryer that grows with the shop.

Application & Workflow Notes

Best Ink Type

Everything: water-based, discharge, DTG (digital white & full-color), DTF transfers, plastisol, athletic poly inks.

Best Press Pairing

Auto presses up to 16-station. Pairs with ROQ NEXT, M&R Challenger, Anatol Lightning, and DTG production lines.

Workflow Position

Production-floor centerpiece. Plan for forklift unload, a dedicated 240V circuit sized to your model (72A or 100A single-phase, or 42A or 62A three-phase), dedicated exhaust, and 12-15 ft of clear floor.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What does Edgemax™ Technology actually do?
Standard infrared dryers mount heat panels flat above the belt, which runs hottest in the belt center and 20-40°F cooler at the edges. Edgemax™ is BBC’s patented solution: banks of infrared heat panels angled along the edge of the PTFE-coated belt, paired with BBC’s proprietary watt-density algorithm. The result is uniform temperature from belt edge to belt edge — a 22″ wide front print cures as evenly as a 6″ chest hit. No more slowing the belt to compensate for cold edges on oversized prints.
What is TruTrak™ and why is it a big deal?
TruTrak™ is BBC’s self-centering belt tracking system. Most conveyor dryer belts drift sideways as they run — a little every cycle — until operators have to stop the line to re-track the belt manually. BBC’s TruTrak™ uses a floating belt-tracking guide that continuously self-centers the belt with no manual adjustment, no crown-roller tweaking, no daily maintenance. Set it at install, forget it forever. Belts last dramatically longer (no edge wear from frame contact) and you never lose production to belt drift. BBC’s own tagline is “often imitated, never matched” — other manufacturers have been trying to copy this system for decades.
Which model do I need — 36″ or 54″?
Choose 36″ (AIR-366C) for standard production where most prints fit a 14″x16″ or 16″x18″ platen. Choose 54″ (AIR-546C) for oversized prints, all-over hoodies, run-around graphics, or shops running multiple shirts side-by-side on auto presses.
Can the Aeolus cure DTG and DTF transfers?
Yes — the Aeolus is engineered for digital production. DTG digital white, full-color DTG prints, and DTF transfer adhesive activation all run through the Aeolus at production belt speeds. It’s a favorite of multi-decoration shops running screen, DTG, and DTF on the same floor.
What’s the install footprint?
Plan for 12-14 ft of clear floor length depending on infeed/outfeed configuration (AIR-xxx-4-2 ships 12 ft, AIR-xxx-4-4 ships 14 ft), hardwired 240V power sized to your model (36″ = 72A single-phase or 42A three-phase; 54″ = 100A single-phase or 62A three-phase), exhaust ducting to an exterior wall, and forklift access for offloading the freight pallet (ships 1,000–1,600 lbs crated).
How long does shipping take?
Blackbody conveyor dryers ship directly from BBC Industries in Pacific, Missouri. Build times vary by model — typically 1-2 weeks for the MB1500 and Little Buddy II, 2-4 weeks for the Big Buddy III, and 4-8 weeks for the Forced Air and Aeolus models. Call River City Supply at (512) 454-0505 for the current build queue before you order.
Will this cure plastisol ink properly?
Yes. BBC’s infrared panels are engineered to bring plastisol to its 320°F cure temperature efficiently. Always verify cure with a temperature gun or temp-tape on the print itself — not on the belt or shirt next to the print.
What’s BBC Industries’ background?
BBC Industries (Black Body Corporation) has been manufacturing infrared heating equipment since the 1970s and has supplied the screen printing industry since the Black Flash® launched in 1982. They’re the only U.S. manufacturer of electric infrared screen-printing dryers — every Blackbody unit ships from Pacific, Missouri.
Do you offer financing?
Yes — River City Supply offers equipment financing through our financing partner. Most Blackbody dryers qualify for Section 179 tax write-offs, and approval typically takes under 24 hours. See equipment financing options.
