Visprox Thinner 10 for TCP 9900 Pad Printing Ink
TW Graphics
Visprox Thinner 2 (VVD-2 Fast PAD) is the fast-evaporating thinner for TCP 9900 pad printing ink — chosen when you need crisp pad pickup, sharp ink film release, and minimal time between pad pickup and substrate transfer.
Thinner 2 evaporates faster than Thinner 10, making it the right choice for high-speed automated pad printing, fine-detail work where ink must dry-in-place quickly on the cliché, and ambient conditions where standard thinners flow too slowly off the pad.
Part of the Visprox TCP 9900 pad printing ink system manufactured by TW Graphics in Commerce, California, USA. SKU: VXTH2L1. Pack size: 1 Liter. Compatible with the full TCP 9900 ink range (Colormatic mixing colors A through K, Extra Opaque whites and blacks, and TCP 9949 Transparent Base) for one-component (1K) and two-component (2K) pad printing on PVC, ABS, polycarbonate, acrylic (PMMA), polystyrene, PES, PET-G, pre-treated polypropylene, aluminum, and glass — covering industries from cosmetics packaging and medical devices to electronics, automotive trim, and promotional products.

Why Choose This Product
Press & Substrate Tuning
Adjusts TCP 9900 ink viscosity to match your press speed, ambient conditions, and substrate — proper viscosity is the foundation of consistent prints.
Evaporation-Profiled
This thinner runs fast — chosen specifically to balance pad pickup, image release, and dry-in-place behavior.
TCP 9900 System Match
Formulated as part of the Visprox TCP 9900 system — chemically matched to the ink resin for clean reduction without affecting cure or color.
Made in California by TW Graphics
Manufactured by TW Graphics in Commerce, California — domestic U.S. production with no overseas lead times.

Production Specifications at a Glance
Application Rate
Add to TCP 9900 ink as needed to reach desired viscosity for your printer and substrate
Storage
Sealed in original container, away from heat and ignition sources, 15–30°C ambient.
Compatibility
All TCP 9900 colors and EO/L/M variants. Also compatible with Visprox cleaner 920.
Mixing Order
Add hardener first (if running 2K), then adjust viscosity with thinner. Never thin before adding hardener.
Background & Context
Pad Printing 101
Pad printing transfers ink from an etched plate (cliché) to a silicone pad, then to the substrate. The pad picks up ink only because the ink has flashed off enough solvent on the cliché to be tacky — but not so much that it won’t release onto the substrate. Thinner controls that balance.
Thinner vs. Retarder
A thinner reduces viscosity AND evaporates relatively quickly. A retarder reduces viscosity AND deliberately slows evaporation. Use thinner to set baseline viscosity; add retarder if ink dries on the cliché between cycles.
Common Mistakes
Over-thinning is the #1 mistake — it weakens hide power, opens halftones, and can compromise adhesion. Start with small additions (5%), test, adjust. And never re-thin ink that’s already been hardened.
Choosing the Right Hardener by Substrate
Use this guide to select the correct two-component hardener for your substrate. Always test on actual production parts before running a job.
| Substrate | Hardener | Addition | Cure |
|---|---|---|---|
| PVC, ABS, PS | 1K (no hardener) | — | Air dry |
| PMMA, PES, PET-G | 1K (no hardener) | — | Air dry |
| Polycarbonate (PC) | 1K, optional N.2 | 0–5% | Air dry |
| Polyester / PET | Polyester Bonding Improver | Up to 20% | Air dry |
| Pre-treated Polypropylene (PP) | Hardener N.2 | Up to 10% | Air dry |
| Glass (high-cure) | Hardener N.5 | 20% | 150°C / 20 min |
| Glass (low-percentage) | Hardener N.9 | 6% | 150°C / 20 min |
How to Use This Product
A step-by-step workflow for safe, repeatable pad printing results. New to TCP 9900? Open live chat with the bubble in the bottom corner — fastest way to get questions answered before you start a job.
Mix Ink First
Stir TCP 9900 ink thoroughly before adding any thinner — pigments settle in storage and need to be fully redispersed.
Add Hardener (If Required)
If running 2K (PP, glass, metal substrates), add hardener BEFORE thinner. Never thin before hardening.
Start Small — 5%
Add 5% thinner by weight to begin. You can always add more; you can’t take it out.
Mix Thoroughly
Stir until fully uniform. Inconsistent thinning produces inconsistent prints.
Test Print
Run 5–10 test impressions on actual production substrate. Check coverage, edge sharpness, and pad release.
Adjust If Needed
If ink is too thick (poor pickup, gummy release), add another 2–3%. If too thin (open halftones, weak hide), the batch may be over-thinned — start fresh.
Run Production
Once dialed in, document the ratio for your build sheet. Re-thin only when needed (typically every 30–60 minutes on long runs as solvent evaporates from the inkwell).
Clean Up With Cleaner 920
When done, clean equipment with Visprox Cleaner 920 (NCL920L5) — not thinner. Thinner residue can contaminate the next color run.
Safety, Handling & Regulatory
Important Notes
Always test ink/thinner ratios and full adhesion on actual production substrates before running a paid job.
Start with small thinner additions (5%) — over-thinning weakens hide power, opens halftones, and can compromise adhesion.
Hot, dry shops dry ink faster on the cliché. Adjust thinner choice (or add retarder) seasonally as conditions change.
