PMI Quick Rip 2″ — No Blue Liner — 100% Clear, 100% Adhesive

This is the specialized version of PMI’s hand-tearable screen tape for shops that want complete adhesion with zero visual distraction. No blue tab on the edge. No non-adhesive zones of any kind. The entire 2-inch width is clear film and high-tack adhesive — what you see on the screen is exactly what you’re bonding. Built for precision print-side blockout work: pinholes, fine registration marks, and any area where you need to see the mesh through the tape while you work.

What Makes the No-Blue-Liner Version Different

The standard PMI Quick Rip has a narrow blue non-adhesive tab on one edge. This version removes that tab entirely — delivering a tape that is uniformly clear and uniformly adhesive from edge to edge. Here’s why that matters for specific applications:

👁️ Full Visibility Through the Tape

Clear film all the way across means you can see exactly what’s underneath — pinhole location, registration mark position, mesh damage — while the tape is applied. No blue edge obstructing your view at the side of the strip.

⬛ Edge-to-Edge Adhesion

Every millimeter of the 2-inch width is adhesive. No dead zone at the edge that could create a micro-gap for ink to seep under. This is especially valuable when taping near fine stencil edges or covering small isolated pinholes where full perimeter sealing matters.

🏭 Cleaner Look on Production Screens

Some shops prefer all-clear tape on their screens for a cleaner visual — no colored elements that can be confused with tape orientation, color separations, or registration marks when screens are checked before printing.

Feature Breakdown

🔍

100% Clear Film

The transparent backing lets you see the mesh and stencil through the tape at all times. Critical for precision pinhole work — you can position the tape over the exact defect, see it through the tape to confirm coverage, then press down. No guesswork, no re-lifts.

Fully Adhesive — Edge to Edge

Without the blue non-adhesive tab, every millimeter of the 2-inch width bonds to the mesh. There’s no edge zone that could lift or allow ink seepage. The tape seals completely flat across its full width.

Snap-Tear Speed Backing

Same quick-tear engineered backing as the standard Quick Rip line. Snap it by hand to your required length — no scissors, no blade required. Clean straight tear every time, even at speed.

🎯

2″ Precision Width

Narrow enough to target specific areas on a screen without covering healthy emulsion unnecessarily. Ideal for isolated pinholes, single registration marks, and tight blockout areas close to the stencil edge.

🚫

Zero Residue Removal

PMI’s clean-release acrylic adhesive leaves no sticky deposits on mesh or emulsion after removal. Pull the tape after the run and the screen is clean — no solvent, no scraping.

🛡️

Emulsion Safe

The adhesive formula is designed to release without lifting emulsion off the mesh. Critical on the print side where the tape is in direct contact with the stencil surface.

📦

No Release Liner

No paper backing to peel before application. Unroll, snap-tear, place — one motion. In a production shop taping dozens of pinholes per shift, eliminating the liner-peel step saves real time.

🏭

Manual & Auto Press Ready

Holds through the mechanical stress of automatic press operation — squeegee pressure, off-contact flex, and repeat cycle vibration will not lift the tape from the mesh during the run.

How to Use — Pinhole & Print-Side Blockout

Step 1 — Identify the Area

Hold the screen up to a light source to locate pinholes or open mesh areas that need to be blocked. The clear tape will let you see exactly what’s underneath once applied — but identifying before taping saves material.

Step 2 — Snap-Tear to Length

Grip the roll and snap the tape to your required length with a quick wrist motion. The backing tears cleanly and straight — no scissors needed, even for small precise strips.

Step 3 — Position on the Print Side

Apply the tape to the print side of the screen (the side the squeegee rides across) over the area to be blocked. The clear film lets you see the pinhole or mark through the tape to confirm alignment before pressing.

Step 4 — Press Flat — All Edges

Press the tape firmly from center outward, then run a fingernail or squeegee edge along all four edges to seal completely. Every edge must be fully bonded — any lifted edge is a path for ink.

Step 5 — Verify & Print

Check the tape is lying flat with no bubbles or lifted edges. The transparency lets you visually confirm the pinhole is covered. Then print — the tape holds through the full run.

Step 6 — Remove After Printing

Peel from a corner after the run. Without the blue tab, simply use a fingernail to initiate the lift at a corner. Clean release — no residue on the mesh.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Frequently Asked Questions — PMI Quick Rip 2″ — No Blue Liner

What does ‘no blue liner’ mean exactly?

This is a specialized version of PMI’s hand-tearable quick-rip tape that has no blue non-adhesive zone anywhere on the tape — not on the edge, not in the middle. The entire 2-inch width is 100% clear film with 100% adhesive coverage from one edge to the other. The standard Quick Rip has a narrow blue non-adhesive tab on one edge as a peel grip. This version eliminates that tab entirely for complete edge-to-edge adhesion.

Why would I want a tape with no blue tab?

Three main reasons. First, full visibility — clear all the way across means you can see the mesh through every part of the tape, which matters for precision pinhole work. Second, complete edge adhesion — without any non-adhesive zone, even the very edge of the tape bonds to the mesh, eliminating any possible lift point at the sides. Third, cleaner screen appearance — some shops prefer all-clear tape on screens to avoid any colored elements that might be confused with other markings.

How is this different from the PMI 321 Blockout Tape?

Both are fully adhesive across their width with no blue zone. The key differences: the Quick Rip No Blue Liner is clear/transparent — you can see through it — while the 321 Blockout is white/opaque. The Quick Rip also has the snap-tear optimized backing for faster application. If you need to see what you’re covering during application, use the clear Quick Rip. If opacity doesn’t matter and you want a general blockout tape, the 321 works well.

How do I remove it without a blue tab to grip?

Without the lifting tab, use a fingernail or the corner of a squeegee to initiate the peel at any corner of the tape. PMI’s clean-release adhesive formula means the tape releases easily once you get the peel started — it doesn’t require a tab to come off cleanly. After a run or two, you’ll find a natural corner-lift technique that works just as fast.

What is this tape primarily used for?

Print-side screen blockout. This includes: sealing pinholes in the stencil (the clear film lets you position it precisely over the pinhole), covering registration marks on the print side, and blocking any open mesh areas that would allow ink through. It can also be used for frame edge masking, though the 451 Split Tape is typically better for inside-of-channel frame work.

Does it work on automatic presses?

Yes. The adhesive is formulated to hold through full automatic press cycles including the mechanical vibration and squeegee pressure of high-speed production. It will not lift or migrate during the run.

How many rolls per case and what other quantities are available?

The 2″ Quick Rip No Blue Liner comes 36 rolls per case. It’s also available as a single roll and a 6-pack. For very high-volume operations, ask about 18-case bulk pricing (648 rolls) — call (512) 454-0505 for current pricing on larger quantities.

Will it damage my emulsion when I remove it?

No. PMI’s clean-release adhesive is specifically formulated to be emulsion safe. The tape releases cleanly from the stencil surface without pulling or lifting the emulsion, even after long production runs or exposure to press heat.

Can I use it on both the print side and ink side of the screen?

Yes — this tape works on both sides. The fully adhesive, clear construction makes it suitable anywhere a transparent, full-adhesion tape is needed. That said, its ideal application is the print side where visibility through the tape is most useful.
