Description

Supacolor Headwear Transfer — Large 4.7″ × 2.8″

Caps are one of the hardest things to decorate: seams and mesh panels make ordinary transfers crack, lift, or distort. Supacolor Headwear is engineered specifically for headwear — it bridges seams and presses across mesh without cracking, conforming to the curves and panels of a hat while keeping Supacolor’s vibrant, durable, full-color finish.

This Large 4.7″ × 2.8″ transfer is printed to your artwork with no color limits. Full-front logos on five-panel and trucker caps, including designs that cross the center seam.

How to Apply Your Headwear Transfer

1
Set your press
Use a heat press at about 290–300°F with medium/firm pressure (around 40 PSI). A cap/hat press platen gives the best results on curved fronts. Follow the included instruction sheet.
2
Position on the cap
Center the transfer on the cap front, letting it sit naturally over the seam or mesh. Keep it square to the brim.
3
Cover and press
Lay a Teflon or parchment sheet over the transfer and press, making sure pressure is even across the curved surface.
4
Hot peel
Peel immediately while hot, from a corner in one smooth motion, holding the cap steady with your free hand.
5
Post-press
Re-cover and post-press a few seconds to seal the edges over the seam for lasting durability.

Why Headwear Instead of Wearable

Standard transfers are built for flat fabric. On a cap, the center seam and mesh panels flex and break a normal transfer over time. Headwear is formulated to bridge those seams and mesh openings so the design stays intact on the curved, uneven hat surface.

  • Ideal for five-panel caps, trucker/mesh hats, beanies, and curved cap fronts
  • Best choice any time your design crosses a center seam or mesh panel
  • For a flat single panel where the design stays clear of seams, a Wearable transfer can also work
  • A cap/hat heat press platen helps deliver even pressure on curved fronts

Choosing & Using This Transfer

Which size do I need?
This is the Large 4.7″ × 2.8″ option. The Large 4.7″ × 2.8″ suits full cap-front logos; the Small 2.5″ × 2.5″ is for sides, backs, beanies, and compact marks.
Headwear or Wearable?
Use Headwear whenever the design crosses a seam or mesh. For flat, single-panel placements clear of seams, Wearable can also work.
Do I need a hat press?
A standard flat press can work for many caps, but a cap/hat press platen makes it much easier to apply even pressure across the curved front.

Before You Press

Use a real heat press
Not for a household iron or Cricut Easy Press. A cap/hat press platen is recommended for curved fronts.
Mind the seam
Center the design over the seam and keep pressure even so the transfer bridges it cleanly.
Custom & made to order
Each transfer is custom-printed to your artwork, so it’s non-returnable. Confirm your art and size before ordering.
Artwork tips
Details under ~1 pt get a thin garment-color outline. Avoid drop shadows, glows, and fades, and only submit artwork you’re authorized to print.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the Supacolor Headwear transfer for?
Headwear is a full-color heat transfer engineered for caps and hats. It presses over seams and mesh panels without cracking, so logos stay sharp on the curved surface of a hat.
Why not just use a Wearable transfer on a cap?
Wearable transfers are built for flat fabric. On a cap, the center seam and mesh flex and can crack a standard transfer over time. Headwear is made to bridge seams and mesh. For a flat single panel clear of seams, Wearable can also work.
What caps does it work on?
Five-panel caps, trucker and mesh hats, beanies, and curved cap fronts — especially designs that cross a center seam or mesh panel.
Hot peel or cold peel?
Hot peel. Press at about 290–300°F with medium/firm pressure for roughly 12–15 seconds, then peel immediately from a corner and post-press a few seconds to seal over the seam.
Do I need a special hat press?
Not strictly — many caps can be pressed on a standard flat press. But a cap/hat press platen makes it much easier to apply even pressure across the curved front for the cleanest result.
Can I PMS match or print metallics?
Yes. Headwear is a screen-printed-style Supacolor transfer, so we can PMS/Pantone match your brand colors and print metallics at no extra cost.
Can I use a household iron or Cricut Easy Press?
No. Headwear needs a heat press that delivers consistent, even pressure. A household iron or Cricut Easy Press can’t maintain the pressure required for a clean, durable bond over seams.
Which size should I order?
The Large 4.7″ × 2.8″ suits full cap-front logos; the Small 2.5″ × 2.5″ is for sides, backs, beanies, and compact marks. See the size guide on this page.
How durable is it?
Applied correctly, Headwear is wash-tested to 50+ washes (testing stopped at 70) without cracking, even over the cap seam.
How does shipping work?
Headwear transfers are custom-printed and drop-ship directly from Supacolor. Production typically takes a few business days — message us for the current turnaround on your order.
Are they returnable?
Because each transfer is custom-printed to your artwork, it’s a non-returnable product. Please confirm your design and size before ordering.
