Description

All 13 Neo Pigments — One Kit, Every Color You Will Ever Need

This is the complete Matsui color system in a single purchase. Thirteen concentrated pigments that, when combined with Matsui bases and the free CMS software, give you access to thousands of Pantone®-matched colors. No more buying individual premixed colors for every job. No more shelves full of half-used quarts. Mix exactly the color you need, in exactly the quantity you need, every time.

The concept is simple: pigments provide color, bases provide performance. Choose your base for the fabric and finish you need, add the CMS-calculated pigment formula, and print. One set of 13 pigments works with every Matsui base in the catalog — acrylic, discharge, stretch, polyurethane, special effects, and performance.

⚠️ Pigments Only — Base Sold Separately

This kit contains PIGMENT CONCENTRATES only. You must purchase a Matsui base separately. The pigments will NOT adhere to fabric by themselves. The base acts as the binder that carries the pigment to the fabric surface and locks it in during curing.

What Is in the Kit — All 13 Neo Pigments

# Neo Pigment Color Family Role in the CMS System
1 Neo Yellow M3G Bright primary yellow Primary yellow. Greens when mixed with blues, oranges when mixed with reds.
2 Neo Gold Yellow MFR Warm gold-yellow Warmer yellow with golden undertone. Ambers, golds, and warm earth tones.
3 Neo Orange MGD Vibrant orange Primary orange. Bridges yellow and red families.
4 Neo Red MGD Warm red (orange-leaning) Warm red. Scarlet, tomato, and warm-tone reds.
5 Neo Red MFB Cool red (blue-leaning) Cool red. Crimson, cherry, and cool-tone reds. Burgundy and wine when mixed with blues.
6 Neo Rose MB Rose / raspberry Rose and raspberry tones. Berry shades when mixed with violet.
7 Neo Pink MB Bright pink Hot pink, bubblegum, and pastel pinks (with Extender Base).
8 Neo Violet MFB Deep violet / purple Purple and violet. Indigo with blue, berry with rose, plum with red.
9 Neo Navy Blue MB Deep navy blue Navy and dark blue. Midnight tones with black.
10 Neo Blue MB Medium blue Standard medium blue. Royal and cobalt tones.
11 Neo Blue MG Green-leaning blue / process cyan Cyan and teal. Key pigment for mixing greens (with Yellow M3G).
12 Neo Green MB Bright green Primary green. Lime with yellow, teal with blue, forest with black.
13 Neo Black MK Concentrated black Black and shading pigment. Darkens and mutes any color: forest green, navy, burgundy, charcoal.

Available sizes: .25lb sample kit (small test amounts of all 13), 2lb quart (full quart of each), 9lb gallon (full gallon of each).

How the System Works — Pigment + Base + CMS = Any Color

The Neo Pigment system has three components:

1. Pigments (this kit): Thirteen concentrated pure single pigments. They provide color only. They do not adhere to fabric on their own.

2. Bases (sold separately): Matsui bases provide adhesion, binder chemistry, hand feel, and performance characteristics. The base you choose determines whether the ink is acrylic, discharge, stretch, polyurethane, metallic, crackle, pearlescent, etc. See the full base chart below.

3. Matsui CMS Color Matching Software (free): Enter any Pantone® code. CMS calculates the exact Neo Pigment ratios by weight or volume. Use a gram scale for accuracy. The software eliminates guesswork — every color is repeatable batch to batch.

Standard mixing ratio: 10% pigment to 90% base by weight. Some applications allow up to 15%. Special effects bases have lower maximums (Pearl Binder: max 2%, Shimmer: max 5%). The CMS formulas account for these limits.

Which Base Do You Need? — Compatible Matsui Bases Master Chart

Neo Pigments are compatible with ALL Matsui printing bases. The base determines what the ink does. This chart shows every compatible base, what it does, and which application it targets.

PERFORMANCE / KOMBAT BASES — Dye migration blocking, sports apparel
Kombat White Performance white Stretch white for sublimation-printed polyester. Dye migration blocking. Color overprint on sublimated polyester. Polyester, performance stretch Per application Sublimation poly: Kombat Blocker under Kombat White. Most aggressive blocker.

⚠️ NOT compatible with: Dyestone bases (use Dyestone X pigments only with Dyestone bases).

Blocker Escalation — Which Blocker, When?

The blocker prints FIRST, directly on the garment, UNDER the white underbase. It prevents garment dye from migrating up through the white and into your color layer during curing. Three levels of blocking strength:

Level 1 — Under Base Blocker Gray: Standard dye migration on dark cotton garments. The default starting point.

Level 2 — Under Base Blocker Black LG: Stronger blocking for polyester, poly-blends, and garments with aggressive dye migration that Gray cannot contain.

Level 3 — Kombat Blocker: Most aggressive. Specifically for sublimation-printed polyester where sublimation dyes re-activate at cure temperatures.

No blocker needed: Light garments (no dark dye to migrate) and discharge printing (discharge chemistry removes the garment dye instead of blocking it).

Always test — 48-hour rule: Print a test garment, cure it fully, then let it sit for 48 hours at room temperature. If garment dye bleeds through the white underbase after 48 hours, escalate to the next blocker level.

Recommended First Base — Where to Start

If you are new to the Neo Pigment system and need one base to get started, here are the most common entry points:

Printing on light garments (white, ash, light colors): Start with 301C Clear or EasyPrint Clear 301. Add 10% Neo Pigment. Print.

Printing on dark cotton (discharge): Start with Brite Discharge Base. Add 10% Neo Pigment + 3-8% Discharge Activator. 100% cotton only.

Printing both lights and darks: Start with 301DM Base. Water-based mode on lights (no activator). Discharge mode on darks (add activator). One base, two modes.

Step-by-Step Mixing Instructions

1. Choose your color. Look up the Pantone® code in the Matsui CMS Color Matching Software. CMS tells you which pigments to use and at what ratios.

2. Weigh your base. Use a gram scale. Pour the desired amount of Matsui base into a clean container.

3. Weigh and add pigment(s). Add the CMS-calculated pigment amounts. Standard ratio: 10% pigment to 90% base. Stir continuously as you add pigment.

4. Mix thoroughly. Use a clean mixing blade or drill mixer. Ensure even pigment dispersion throughout the base — no streaks, no clumps.

5. Test print. Print a test swatch on your target garment. Evaluate color accuracy, opacity, and hand feel. Adjust if needed.

6. Add additives as needed. Use Retarder MG (1-5%) for open time, Fixer WF-N (1-5%) for wash fastness, Softener MG (1-4%) for fabric penetration, or Quick Additive (6-9%) for all three in one.

7. Cure. 320°F (160°C) for 2.5-3 minutes. Use an air flow dryer for best efficiency. Always wash test before full production.

.25lb sample kit (small test amounts of all 13 pigments), 2lb quart (full quart of each), and 9lb gallon (full gallon of each). Start with the sample kit to test, then move to quart or gallon for production.

How much pigment do I mix into the base?

Standard ratio: 10% pigment to 90% base by weight. Some bases allow up to 15%. Special effects bases have lower maximums — Pearl Binder 301 maxes at 2%, Shimmer bases max at 5%. Use a gram scale and the Matsui CMS for exact formulas.

How do I match a specific Pantone® color?

Use the free Matsui CMS Color Matching Software. Enter any Pantone® code and CMS calculates which of the 13 pigments to use and at what ratios by weight or volume. Use a gram scale for accuracy.

Can I use these pigments with discharge bases?

Yes — Neo Pigments are fully compatible with all Matsui discharge bases including Brite Discharge Base, HM Discharge Base, and 301DM Base. Discharge activator required for dark garment applications. 100% cotton only for discharge mode.

Do I need a blocker on dark garments?

If printing on dark garments with a water-based (non-discharge) base, yes — use Gray Blocker for dark cotton, Black LG Blocker for polyester/blends, or Kombat Blocker for sublimation-printed polyester. If using a discharge base on dark cotton, NO blocker is needed.

Can I use these with Dyestone bases?

⚠️ No. Dyestone bases require Dyestone X pigments only. Neo Pigments are compatible with all other Matsui bases.

Are these safe for children’s garments?

Yes. OEKO-TEX® Standard 100 certified, CPSIA and HR4040 compliant. Meets all RSLs for major brands.

What additives should I use?

Use Retarder MG (1-5%) for screen open time, Fixer WF-N (1-5%) for wash fastness, Softener MG (1-4%) for fabric penetration, or Quick Additive (6-9%) for all three in one. Additive recommendations vary by base — see individual base product pages for specifics.
