Benchmark extra-opaque white for pad printing on dark and colored substrates

Visprox TCP 9901 White EO is the high-hide reference white in the TCP 9900 family — formulated to lay down brilliant, opaque coverage in a single pass on dark plastics, treated PP, glass, and aluminum.

Why Choose This Product

Excellent Opacity

Heavy pigment loading delivers strong hide power in a single pass — particularly important for the EO (Extra Opaque) formulations on dark substrates.

Quick Drying

Dust-free in approximately one minute at room temperature, fully cured at 24 hours. Hot air drying takes seconds — critical for production cycle times.

Multi-Substrate Range

Prints on PVC, ABS, PS, PC, PMMA, PES, PET-G, pre-treated PP, aluminum, and (with the right hardener) glass — covers virtually all industrial pad printing applications.

1K or 2K Versatile

Run as one-component for standard substrates, or add a hardener (N.2 / N.5 / N.9) for two-component performance on PP or glass.

See Pad Printing in Action

A demonstration of pad printing — how silicone pads pick up ink from etched clichés and transfer it onto curved, textured, or three-dimensional substrates.

Production Specifications at a Glance

Cliché Spec

Etch depth from 26 to 40 microns. Deeper for solid coverage, shallower for fine detail and halftones.

Pad Hardness

Compatible with silicone pads from 5 to 15 Shore — soft pads for textured/contoured surfaces, harder for flat work.

Drying Profile

Dust-free in 1 minute, fully cured at 24 hours air dry. Hot air drying reduces dust-free time to seconds.

Cleanup

Equipment cleans with Visprox Cleaner 920. Don’t leave hardener-mixed ink in equipment past pot life.

Background & Context

Pad Printing in Brief

Pad printing transfers ink from an etched plate (cliché) to a silicone pad, then onto the substrate. It’s the go-to process for printing on curved, textured, recessed, or three-dimensional surfaces — places where screen printing or rollers can’t reach.

1K or 2K — How to Decide

Run TCP 9900 as one-component (1K) on PVC, ABS, PS, PC, PMMA, PES, and PET-G. Switch to two-component (2K) with the appropriate hardener for pre-treated PP (Hardener N.2) or glass (N.5 or N.9). 2K extends durability on every substrate but is required only on the difficult ones.

Industries Using TCP 9900

Cosmetics packaging (caps, jars, bottles), medical devices (housings, dial faces, instrument scales), electronics (housings, buttons, displays), automotive (interior trim, knobs, dashboards), promotional products, sporting goods, toys, and consumer goods of every kind.

How to Use This Product

A step-by-step workflow for safe, repeatable pad printing results. New to TCP 9900? Open live chat with the bubble in the bottom corner — fastest way to get questions answered before you start a job.

1

Determine Substrate Type

Check the ‘Choosing the Right Hardener’ table above. PVC, ABS, PS, PC, PMMA, PES, and PET-G print 1K (no hardener). Pre-treated PP, glass, and metals require 2K with the right hardener.

2

Mix Ink Thoroughly

Stir until fully uniform — pigments settle in storage and need to be fully redispersed before any additives go in.

3

Add Hardener (2K Only)

If your substrate requires it, weigh in the correct hardener at the recommended percentage BEFORE thinning. Mix until fully uniform.

4

Adjust Viscosity

Add Thinner 10 (standard) or Thinner 2 (fast cycles) at approximately 5% by weight. Mix thoroughly. Add Retarder 4 only if ink dries on the cliché between cycles.

5

Set Up Cliché & Pad

Cliché etch depth: 26–40 microns (deeper for solid coverage, shallower for fine detail). Silicone pad hardness: 5–15 Shore (soft for textured surfaces, hard for flat work).

6

Test Print First

Run 5–10 test impressions. Check ink density, edge sharpness, pad release, and (after 24 hr) adhesion via cross-hatch tape test.

7

Run Production

Stay within pot life if running 2K (~48 hours). Re-thin gradually as solvent evaporates from the inkwell during long runs.

8

Cure Properly

Plastics: 24 hours air dry to full cure. Glass: 150°C / 20 min after printing. Hot air drying accelerates handling but full cure still needs the 24-hour window.

9

Clean Up

Clean equipment with Visprox Cleaner 920 (NCL920L5). Never use thinner as a cleaner — it leaves residues. Discard hardened-ink scraps; never store mixed 2K ink past pot life.

Important Notes

🧪 Always Test First

Run a tape test or chemical wipe on actual production substrates before committing to a job — substrates vary lot-to-lot, even from the same supplier.

⏱️ Hardened Ink Pot Life

When running 2K (with any hardener), mixed ink has approximately 48 hours of usable pot life. Mix only what you’ll use in that window.

🔬 Don’t Skip Pre-treatment

Pre-treated PP must actually be pre-treated (flame, corona, or plasma) before printing. Untreated PP will fail every adhesion test regardless of hardener.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Frequently Asked Questions

❓ What surfaces can I print on with TCP 9900 Extra Opaque White?
TCP 9900 prints on a wide range of substrates: PVC, ABS, PS, PC, PMMA, PES, PET-G, pre-treated polypropylene, aluminum, and glass. Most plastics are 1K-friendly (no hardener needed). Pre-treated PP needs Hardener N.2; glass needs N.5 or N.9 with thermal cure.
❓ Why doesn’t this color have a Pantone equivalent?
As a extra opaque white, this product doesn’t map to a single Pantone reference — it functions as a base, mixing component, or extender within the TCP 9900 Colormatic system. Use it solo as designed, or as a component when blending custom Pantone matches with the lettered Colormatic colors (A through K).
❓ Do I need a hardener?
Not for most plastics (PVC, ABS, PS, PC, PMMA, PES, PET-G). You DO need a hardener for pre-treated polypropylene (N.2 at up to 10%) or glass (N.5 at 20% or N.9 at 6%, both with thermal cure). Always run an adhesion test before production.
❓ What’s the difference between EO, L, and M designations?
EO = ‘Extra Opaque’ — high pigment loading for maximum hide on dark substrates. L = standard mixing white (lighter pigment, used for tinting Colormatic colors). M = mixing black (used for shading in the Colormatic system). The Colormatic letters A–K are mixing primaries for hitting Pantone targets.
❓ How should I thin TCP 9900?
Use Visprox Thinner 10 (VXTH10L1) for standard production — it’s the default. Use Thinner 2 (VVD-2, VXTH2L1) for high-speed presses, fine-detail work, or hot/dry conditions. Add Retarder 4 (VXTH4L1) to slow drying on fine halftones or in hot shops. Start with 5% and adjust.
❓ What’s the pot life after adding hardener?
Approximately 48 hours. Mix only what you’ll use in one shift, label your cup with mix time, and discard at the end of the day. Crosslinking begins immediately and continues whether you’re printing or not.
❓ Can I use TCP 9900 outdoors?
Light fastness is good (especially the Permanent Blue and Permanent Green Colormatic colors), making TCP 9900 suitable for indoor and shaded outdoor use. For sustained direct UV exposure, run additional fade testing on your specific application — long-term outdoor performance varies by color and substrate.
❓ How do I clean my pad printing equipment?
Use Visprox Cleaner 920 (NCL920L5) — formulated specifically for the TCP 9900 system. Don’t use thinners as cleaners (they leave residues). Clean immediately after each color run; never let hardener-mixed ink sit in equipment past pot life.
❓ Where does this product ship from and how long does it take?
This product drop-ships directly from TW Graphics, our authorized manufacturer-distributor partner in Commerce, California. River City Supply takes your order and TW Graphics fulfills the package. Allow standard ground transit time from Southern California — typically 1–2 business days for the West Coast, 3–5 business days nationwide.
